Say you're a teacher ashamed of the metrics without saying you're a teacher.

I think the SPS scores are ridiculous. You would be surprised at what schools do to manipulate and cheat to get better scores.

I would not be surprised.
Arguing against metrics because some people abuse them is a dumb tactic.

Are they not reporting them or counting them? Mississippi just approved the latter. I assume many states will follow suit.

Don’t forget parents…… if you make too much noise about your child’s education, the fed gov may label you a domestic terrorist

Good question. I believe from the reporting (for what that is worth) is that they are "shelving them" which to me means they aren't even going to calculate them. Would love some clarification on that though.

This, of course, pathetic.

There is only one thing that will solve this and that is testing. But when testing was done (ar at least tried) boy oh boy were the majority of people on this board against it, talking about "teaching to the test" and so on.

You cannot have standards if yourb standards are "eh, just do the best you can and we won't monitor (test) you".

Colleges say no tests because it's stressful (good luck with becoming an ER doctor or any stress filled job!)

You might want to check your links again. They do NOT prove your point.

SPS scores are a crock of shite anyway. Schools pass kids along even though they don't deserve it just to make sure their scores don't drop. If you eliminate the SPS score then maybe we will get back to holding kids accountable and actually holding them back.
The main problem affecting scores is that up to 25% of students did not take LEAP/LEAP 2025 test last year due to virtual schooling. That 25% is automatically a unsatisfactory grade against the school. You can't hold the schools accountable for a parenting problem.

When you shut the schools down and the kids can’t come to school, it’s not a “parenting problem.”

So they don't have to report them.

So, if they are not reported then the kids magically become smarter, amirite?

I think I read that like 45 other states are doing this..

A lot of states have already been granted the waiver. But it's still BS. Report the scores and let everyone see the fallout from these covid measures pushed by the unions.
