The guy who just woke up one day and decided he wanted to take over parts of the Ukraine through escalation of hostilities is definitely the guy that should be making this call.

Putin is respected in the world maybe not the USA and Europe but the rest of the world, likes Putin. Middle East, Africa, Asia, and South America. Many like myself think the USA and Nato pushed things in Ukraine so Russia had no choice but react and Russia Did. The Collective west, thought the rest of the world would join them and condem Russia, but that did not happen, China and India bought their Oil and when Europe and the USA tried to shame them, it turns out Europe is still buying their gas and oil and so was the USA. So, they have no foot to stand on.

It’s in Putin’s interest that fighting stops
1) Iran supplies drones and other arms to Russia
2) Russia is a major arms exporter. They do not need to show how bad Russian weapon systems (s-300s and s-400s) fair against western made weapon systems.
