This was an essentially a coup by Venezuelan opposition group that were duly elected in 2024. All we did was fly in, nudge them over the line, and collect our bounty. There were reports moments after the strikes that the opposition leaders were already moving into government buildings. Based on Vance’s comments, there was also some level of negotiated “off ramp” cooperation from Maduro himself.
This has very little to do with China, Hezbollah, Cartel de Los Soles, TdA, or all of the other issues that have plagued the US. This seems more internally born.

The backbone of neocon philosophy is using military force to establish democracies abroad via regime change

1. China is working on footholds in the western hemisphere. Literally were there yesterday working on an agreement. This cannot happen.
China owns us, and now, thanks to a geriatric idiot, they have precedent to kidnap our elected leader.
Your grandkids will not like the world you made for them.

It's not about whether it works or not. MAGA (and many individuals who support MAGA) claimed to reject neocon foreign policy.
Now those same people are cheering for it.

2. They also push drugs and you have Islamic terrorists flocking to the country. Again, cannot happen in the western hemisphere.
3. You can call us the big bully to the north all you want, but the Venezuelan people can control their destinies again and put an end to a massive humanitarian crisis second only to Syria. All of you concerned about people flooding north should be happy because this helps stem that.
O.K.
So your argument here this is a reestablishment of the Monroe Doctrine?
Well and fine, if so.
Yet does this means the United States will disengage militarily from Asia and Eastern Europe?
I think all honest people know the answer to that question.

It's not different when the US does it? They're the same as the Soviets, the CCP, Muslim extremists, etc.? If they are the same, why do people choose to flock to this country when given the choice? Did they flock to those other meddlers?

I have made it emphatically clear that I am opposed to these regime change policies because of the unforeseen consequences — both immediate and long term — that necessarily follow these events.
Yet if Maduro is actually ousted, I am curious about what happens with Zelensky.
Is this part of a larger chess game with Russia to trade one global pawn for another?

Zelensky?
The comparison would be Putin.
