The person commenting on it or the person actively pulling for it to happen so that they can comment on it? Big distinction. The latter is ethically and morally despicable.

I don't know of anybody actively hoping for it to happen. Although, I'm sure you think there are.

This is awesome. You are getting upset at posters on a message board that are far removed from the situation instead of focusing on the people who are being bussed in from out of town to wreak havoc.

Yes, your priorities seem to be in the right place.

The guy obviously has a problem with white people from his history on here. He's trying to find some way to blame others instead of the animals rioting.

Agreed. And then the usual suspects on here will happily pile on and conflate the two groups in order to disparage every single person involved.

And I am urging calm and quiet reflection. The internet is serious bidness - but we don't want to confuse our e-problems and e-disputes on here with the actual problems the people of Ferguson, as well as the authorities are about to actually face, Big Scrub. As long as we're talking (typing) on here, we're not killing each other, right? We can agree to disagree and everybody goes home alive.

That may not be an option in Ferguson and it is sad.

E.G. this thread on the OT is called "Official Ferguson Live Riot Thread"

LINK

Even though the links inside refer to planned protests.

Very clearly, many people are hoping there are riots.

Very clearly, many people seek to paint ANYONE who has an axe to grind in the case as nothing more than a common "rioter".

How can anyone deny this with a straight face?

Lots of angst of some kind there, that's for certain.

We can't do anything about these faceless ANYONEs - Big Scrub. Let's just stay as calm as we can and weigh things objectively - that's all Ace Midnight and Big Scrub TX can do in this thread - fair enough?

A mob incites mob mentality eventually. Now if the protestors turn and head towards home when the announcement is made, you might have a point. However, I see a lot of good intentions going the way of bad reactions if they hang around with the rioters.

I'm not sure if you can make the distinction or not, but there's a vast difference between HOPING it will happen, and ANTICIPATING that it will.

There is a history, you know.

There was no rioting after the trayvon Martin verdict and I figure this will go the same way. Riots seem to be more spontaneous to events with little build up compared to situations like this. I know King was different but that was over 20.years.ago and still spontaneous.

Is thinking you can peer inside ohters' souls (which, amazingly, is a gift shared by seemingly many posters here) and know that people are hoping for such a thing more or less "ethically and morally despicable" than genuinely hoping for such a thing?

Sure. It's very clearly not you, nor have I insinuated that it is. I'm not personally going to go back and deliver primary research from the August threads in order to prove the obvious. It's there for anyone honest to take a look. Many many posters were happy to simply dismiss basically every resident of Ferguson as a rioter/looter/animal. I know you know this is true, so no need to tell you anymore.

Start with the OT thread I linked which just casually labels protesters in the thread title as rioters. It's on Page 1 right now.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with the current situation.

I honestly think there are a large faction of individuals that are deep down hoping Wilson is no indicted so that they feel justified in rioting.

Absolutely

There are also many people (including some on this board) who are secretly hoping they burn that town to the fricking ground and will be very disappointed if it doesn't happen.
