Patriot supply... I've hovered over the "order" button there but I'm not convinced it's the best route. Can get chicken/tuna cheaper at Sam's/Costco, even Amazon. Ramen in bulk is your cheapest I think, but obviously not something to go indefinitely. I was going to post about having ammo to get other people's stuff, but someone beat me to it.

Ideally what your mindset should be is to have enough stuff to easily last you until the harvest comes in. Supplement with hunting/trapping/fishing/foraging. Can raise chickens, ducks, goats, maybe even larger animals if you can trade for them later (cows, emus, etc.). Knowledge is relatively free and doesn't weigh anything, but you can also get a tablet or even your phone and download, scan, and photograph all kinds of info on how to do any of the above, first aid, etc. There is plenty of room for everyone to remain inside, but without A/C and sewage... who knows. Get by the water (one of the good things about living in Louisiana). Get a couple of solar panels to keep your lights on and phone/tablet charged (not for phone calls, for entertainment and the books you downloaded to teach you canning, which plants are edible, when to plant/harvest, etc.).

I finished buying about 6 months worth of non perishables at the end of April. Mostly as insurance against inflation. It’s stuff I eat anyway- canned veggies, tuna and salmon packs, beans, rice, oats, a few condiments, giant pack of soap, mouthwash, toothpaste, etc.

I’m eating a lot of it now. And feel happy that I’m not paying the inflated prices. I figure gas prices will drop a lot after labor day as is customary. And supply chains will have worked the selves out by then too. So by the time I run out of dry goods inflation prices should be have corrected.

Not worried about not having access to stuff here in the States.

Unless you have the hardware and skills to defend it, you just prepped for someone else.

My buddy bought some Wise containers ten years ago with a 20 year shelf life.

What do you think the real shelf life is?
