Something about blacks being genetically bred to be good at sports.

He said they were genetically bred to be big and strong to be more useful as slaves.

Immediately fired.

Didn’t Costello say something along the the lines of “That little monkey gets loose, doesn't he?‘

That and a few weeks later, he said something about a player just being an animal (paying a compliment really) and Frank Gifford nervously laughed and said "be careful!" and all of them in the booth laughed.

He spoke the truth about how slave owners bred them to be bigger and stronger so they could work them more. It's also not much different than what Hitler tried to do with his super race, just on a much smaller time scale

Al Campanis was fired from the Dodgers after what he said on Nightline with Ted Koppel. There have always been consequences for speech.

I don't think he was talking about slaves. I think he was talking about people from Africa. Could be wrong that was a long arse time ago.

Regardless we can breed dogs for certain traits. So even if he was talking about slaves there is nothing wrong with that. Any species can be breed for certain traits.

He was correct in saying that blacks sold at a higher price if they were big and strong since the labor was manual. The speed factor was caused by muscle type. Blacks inherently have more fast twitch muscle in their legs.

Cosell commenting on Alvin Garrett of the Redskins on a Monday Night game said, "look at that little monkey go."

I know that was a poor choice of words but it's unfortunate because Cosell didn't mean it that way. It was commonplace for his generation to call kids and young people monkeys, not because of race but because of how kids are energetic and tend to get all over everything. My parents called us and their grandkids monkeys all the time

he voiced his theory that black folks were better athletes now because slave owners selectively bred the strongest big black bucks to the strongest black chicks.

What he stated was 100% true. It wasn't acceptable, as these things "should not be talked about".
Absolutely true! Horrible time in our history, as slaves were looked at the same way as livestock, and breed accordingly.

We called our daughter a little monkey. It isn’t racist. Cosell was many things but he was not a racist.

Jimmy the Greek was saying that selective breeding of slaves resulted in superior athletes. A goofy take by him but I don’t think he meant it to be hateful. Nevertheless he was fired immediately.

None of this is new. Wrong person uses the N word and they are gone.

It is just the first time liberals have been hoisted on their own petard.

What he said is that black people are more athletic than white people because of their genetics. Specifically, he said that the achiles tendon is longer in black people than in white people and that they have genetic ability to build muscle that white people don't have. It actually makes a lot of sense, but people got offended because he said black people were different than whites.

It's funny because he was complementing the blacks abilities.

1. It was a private conversation.
2. If you think me saying you can have some influence on if you kid has red hair by getting married to a red head and that makes you mad. Then you are the problem. Not me.

Yep.

quote:

What was the story with him getting pulled off the air?

Black NFL players are really athletic because they un-naturally and naturally selected from the slave days. Those genes that expressed themselves in physical traits are good for sports.

Jimmy got fired for saying this out loud.

The same is somewhat true for Americans of European descent. It was the strong and adventurous that sought new worlds.

America is essentially the best stock from European and African gene pools.

Does anyone remember the Don Imus / Rutgers University basketball team incident?
