You can be heavily fined for not casting a ballot. I think this is bad because choosing to sit out an election is a form of expression and speech.

You're asking seriously? I think you're raising awareness about the law in Australia, because that shite won't fly here

We had mandatory “health insurance”, why not make it mandatory to vote? To hell with the constitution. The SCOTUS would tie it to something to make it happen.

Would a mandatory voting law in America be constitutional if a “none of above” option was given?

I am pretty sure are simply running an experiment question and you know it....fair enough. That is what message boards are for

As you know, making someone vote is blatantly unconstitutional and should stay that way. Forcing someone to vote is equivalent to not letting them vote....in my opinion

The average voter is an idiot. Imagine a law requiring those even dumber to vote.

No kidding.

I would like less people to vote, not more.

Too many people vote now! Nothing irritates me more than watching people read state amendment changes minutes before voting because I know they don’t know what they are voting for, yet their vote counts just as much as mine.

Yes, absolutely.

Too many retards vote already. Why in the hell would anyone want to force more retards into the voting booths?

I'm 100% in favor of poll tests and having far fewer people's vote count.

I think voting for all land owning males should be mandatory and the rest should be banned

Amen brother. . .

Being able to simply walk up and vote (after having registered to do so) is best way we've come with; however not always the smartest thing with respect to outcome.

And their voter ID laws are shite, too. My brother-in-law was out of the country for a federal election, and instead of going through all of the b.s. paperwork to get the fine waived, I went and voted for him. No ID. Just make your mark next to your name on the voter roll. This was in 2004.

I voted for John Howard and three months later was back in the U.S. and voted for W.
