Slow the cherry picking down a bit...it is glaringly obvious that you always want to post as if you have to be the smartest person in the room. You and DisplacedBuckeye should have an "I'm Smarter Than You" showdown for the tiara.

Now if you haven't made some sort of reference to God as being fake or threw some ad hominem in about him, since you are familiar with the term, I apologize but I feel fairly certain that we could find something of the sort you have posted in your history.

So one is a "non believer" if one isn't a young earth creationist? Seriously? That's quite the bar you've set

Nope, spinning things again as that is not what I was getting at. In these evolution threads many of those who are non-believers let you know it right off as they feel by expressing that, they have some sort of intellectual leg up on others who post.

These threads always draw out the anti-religion bigot pieces of shite

I am less religious than any of them. Fortunately I have other proofs of my intellect besides being too smart for religion

Perhaps they’re clammed up in a shell worried about offending someone since that’s all that’s preached these days?

I just let them know, podnuh, it’s okay. Yes, even in this field, in these times, it’s okay....

Point to a single post on this thread that attacked religion or religious belief in any way. Go ahead, just one. I'll wait.

You think religious people are the only ones that celebrate Christmas?

The overwhelming opinion of this board is that anyone who disagrees with the majority here are idiots, liars, evil, etc. And I'm acting like I'm the smartest person in the room? fricking bullshite. The reality is that every person posting on this board thinks they are correct. If they didn't, they wouldn't be posting. I don't expect you to apologize for believing what you're saying is correct; I don't see why you expect me to do so.

As for the diatribe about my beliefs about god, I've already acknowledged that I'm an atheist, so by definition, I don't actively believe the Christian god exists. If that's all it takes for me to make "some sort of reference to god as being fake", then sure. But I defy you to find a post of mine that is actively insulting belief in a god in any way, shape, or form.

The majority of "believers" accept evolution of species. I genuinely don't understand what you are trying to convey, at least not from the perspective of "non believers" defaulting to a position of superiority. You're just as likely being insulted by a fellow "believer".

Let’s get this straight a holiday that companies give off to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ is not being allowed to be called Christmas.

If your offended by something as formerly anodyne ad a Christmas party, you’re probably an attention seeking problem starter.

And people like you, who want to appease these people?

Yeah.

But if you having a forced gathering of a bunch of different people, all of which come from different religious and cultural backgrounds, I see no harm in just calling it a "holiday party" and moving on. I question the motives of people who disagree.

I agree. However, as Geaux points out

quote:

The question isn’t what’s right or wrong. The question is the motivation behind changing it.

My attitude is, if the owner wants to have a Christmas Party, then have one. If a few whiners in the organization don't like it, who fricking cares. You see. I say that for the same reason you said what I quoted.

I will say, you used the term "forced gathering". Now, maybe your org is different, but I've never been in an organization that mandated attendance at the Christmas party.

If you had a friend who celebrated a different holiday, would you tell them "Merry Christmas"?
If I know someone is a Christian, I say “merry Christmas.” If I know someone is Jewish, I say “happy Hanukkah.” If I know that someone is a Spanish speaker, I say “Feliz Navidad.”

If I have no idea, I say “happy holidays.” Why is this so hard?

I like the way Canada_Baw thinks.

Merry Christmas, y'all.

And, remember, Jesus is the reason for the season.

God Bless, and have a great American Day! Exemplify those wonderful Judeo-Christians principles that we were founded upon.
