Kennedy has been the ultimate meh to mediocre justice.
He didn't go full Souter and Stevens on us but he hasn't been Scalia and Thomas either.

Trump knows. The Gorsuch nomination was made to get Kennedy to retire. Kennedy was more comfortable stepping down if Gorsuch was nominated and confirmed.

Yep he sure did which is why I'm not shocked. Was guessing either Kennedy or even Thomas would be the one to retire but looks like Kennedy will be it.
I like Thomas a lot but if he wants to retire, I'd hope he do so this term under Trump. If Trump doesn't get re-elected we could be facing SCOTUS issues if a Democrat get elected and re-elected.

At this point I'm fearful this doesn't matter.
I think the Dems are so rabid and pissed off they'll just expand the court and stack it with new leftest judges when they get back in power, and won't bat an eye.
There really should be Constitutional convention to cap the number

Looks like it's June 29th or 30th, boys. And Thomas in 2019 (who will be 71, at a time when black males live on average to 68ish)

they'll have to control both chambers of Congress and the Presidency to do this
it will happen one day but it will take a long time

anyone know the stats on how many judges seats Trump can fill? I know their is an opening @ the FISA court coming up. what about other lower level judges?
