The Jungle Cruise rides at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will undergo major storytelling updates to remove “negative depictions of native people” as Disney continues to address diversity and inclusivity issues in its theme park attractions.

Walt Disney Imagineering will update Jungle Cruise scenes featuring shrunken head dealer Trader Sam and a rhino chasing a safari group up a tree while adding a new scene with a half-sunken boat overrun by chimps.

The updates to the Jungle Cruise rides follow changes to the Pirates of the Caribbean and an upcoming makeover of Splash Mountain intended to address outdated cultural depictions in Disney theme park attractions.

Imagineering Creative Development and Inclusion Strategies Executive Carmen Smith said the latest updates to the Jungle Cruise attractions will address how Trader Sam and other native people and their culture are represented in the classic boat ride.

“As Imagineers, it is our responsibility to ensure experiences we create and stories we share reflect the voices and perspectives of the world around us,” Smith said in a statement. “With Jungle Cruise, we’re bringing to life more of what people love — the humor and wit of our incredible skippers, while making needed updates.”

Oh for frick's sake. Can't wait until they go back and edit Indiana Jones for being too politically incorrect for native and foreign people.... that being said at least it will give us an excuse to remove Kingdom of the Crystal Skull from canon.

Just a little secret...Disney was probably going to update that ride anyway.

Now they can score extra points while they do it.

Last time I was there a couple months ago, it was right after the announced they were rebranding Splash Mtn.

Riding Jungle Cruise I was thinking, “this won’t last very long”.

I have been on this earth for 30 years and have yet to see one instance of Native Americans being disparaged. I always thought they were affectionately portrayed in movies, television, and media. Sure there are stereotypes for humor but nobody hates on Native Americans.

“Space Mt will include depictions of native Ugandans plotting a space shuttle mission while blonde haired and blue eyed Germans sit in the corner masterbating and slinging poop.”

I was there in July 2019 and remarked then that there were a lot of stereotyping going on there and it was actually surprising it was happening. The Tiki Lounge was definitely in need of some SJW renovations.

Honestly though, this is some of the dumbest shite ever. We are nearing a dystopia! It is absurd. It doesn't matter what is wiped off into oblivion, folks are ALWAYS going to get their feelings hurt at some point. These wussies need to grow the Hell up!

In 10 years, every villain in every Disney movie and ride will be a right wing white man.

The Hall of Presidents will be updated. You're going to learn that Martin Luther King is the father of our country.

They’d better not touch Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto or Enchanted Tiki Bar.

Go for it, Disney. Spend those mega bucks.

Some of us are boycotting all your networks and products.

A Disney vacation is for adults without imagination. Take your kids to see something worthwhile versus an overpriced theme park.
