Highly, highly doubt this.
Also, who cares, why would anyone care even one bit if black people wanted to celebrate, it has zero bearing on me or you. None.

When it became Freaknik, I didn't care
Then it became a paid Federal holiday for blacks only as reparations... There was no one left to care. We were all at work.

I grew up in a very small town in north Louisiana and graduated hs in late 60s. Probably from jr high at least i remember my parents always said to avoid going to town or nearby towns as “they” were all there celebrating and shopping. I think they were being sarcastic but maybe not in those days. Don’t know that i knew what they were celebrating and don’t remember a parade or anything. But then we avoided going anywhere that day. Never taught in school that I know of. So it was not just a Texas thing.

Mind you, nobody also celebrated the day the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, either. To this day I don't know what day that is.

most black communities try to do something for it.
You may be correct, but I grew up in small city Alabama, graduated from a 50/50 high school in the early 80s, and had never heard of Juneteenth until last ten years or so via Internet.

Think about it like this, we’re we british colonies right? Didn’t the brits have entire criminal populations they transported to work an unknown land on their behalf?

This is how deluded everybody is now. We had a black president and his bass didn't propose this or Juneteenth to be a federal holiday.

When did Kwanza hit the big time?

The push is to have it replace July 4th, hence the calling it officially “Juneteenth, National Independence Day”
It’ll start small, like now. Within a decade you will get this day off because it’s the “real independence for all” day and July 4th will be a mere footnote. It’s similar to the attempt to change the start of our nation to 1619...

Not all of them, and the percentage was dropping under Trump, at least until the #GreatSteal.

The problem with abolitionists is that they wanted slavery ended immediately.
