BL has the severe misfortune to be a product which is not appreciably better than the competition, which there is quite a lot of, and it is a high volume and high turnover product.

The voice of the American people is their money and who they decide to support or not support with that money.
This is the best way for the average American working man and woman to have a real voice and effect on corporate and political organizations.

REPORT: Bud Light Sales Still In Free Fall As Other Anheuser-Busch Beers Are Beginning To Feel The Sting

“Bud Light’s sales slump has seemingly started to impact other beverages under the Anheuser-Busch brand, according to reports.”

“If Bud Light doesn’t fix its trend by the end of this month, it will continue to lose market share because it will lose Memorial Day. That kicks off the summer season,” Williams told New York Post, “There has to be a sense of urgency for InBev to correct these trends.”

I just popped into my local watering hole for an afternoon yeungling and the bartender said she's sold two Bud Lights in the last two weeks.

Eta- she added that it used to be the number one seller.

I think the circumstances just lined up perfectly for the backlash. BL gave everyone a face and a name for an issue that everyone was already angry about, but had nowhere to direct that anger.

Well said.

A company like the NFL/NBA or Nike can endure these marketing mistakes.

A company (no matter how large) that is not really better than a half a dozen other options cannot.

AB is getting bashed from anger that has been building for years. Bad timing. Real bad timing.

Timing is never good for something bad to happen, it is just less bad to happen in some circumstances or others.

But timing isn’t what is killing them. It is not admitting they made a huge mistake and hanging the ad exec out to dry.

I ask again, why does that CEO still have his job? AB is his job so everything that happens under him is his responsibility - particularly marketing that affects the business in such a way.

Even after the pathetic explanation he gave

InBev is a Belgian company IIRC. For all I know, they are tied into all the globalist horseshite pushing this stuff hard and would rather the BL brand tank than pull back from the rhetoric.

Either this guy did not know the ad was going to run as it did or….

He knew about it and in the most dramatic way possible, misunderstood the AB consumer base.

Either way it’s an error that would carry heavy consequences if it were my company.

It is a perfect storm for many reasons.

First, because....

quote:

BL has the severe misfortune to be a product which is not appreciably better than the competition,

...it is very easy to "boycott" by simply grabbing another of hundreds of light lager beer on the shelves.

Second, in 2023 people expect to see corporate pandering to various groups of "victims". In fact, we are about to see rainbow colored everything in just a few weeks. I think most people can at least rationalize homosexuality. They may always think it is weird and gross that two guys want to bang sticks. But they can at least accept that there are guys who may want to do just that. On the other hand, the "trans" movement is a bridge too far for most because it is completely illogical. A male does not magically become a female simply by dressing like, acting like, and subjectively calling himself a female. In addition to being distasteful to many from a moral perspective, it offends most peoples innate sense of logic. BL leaning in to that ridiculous farce was too much for many of their customers.

Third, they sent out the bozo who led the campaign to do damage control and all she did was show her elitist stripes by defending the campaign and insulting BL's core customer base by essentially calling them a bunch of stupid white trash unworthy of such a "quality" beer. WAY.TO.GO!

Fourth...

quote:

there is quite a lot of, and it is a high volume and high turnover product.

It's a perishable product. Which means if it doesn't sell it goes to waste and BL incurs big losses on that unused inventory. AB is caught in a tough spot of trying to continue to make enough BL to get the market back to consuming the product at the rate it was prior to this mess, but also not making too much of it that a significant portion of it goes to waste...which = lost profits.

Finally, they can't just come out and just admit they fricked up because they know doing so would bring the wrath of the MSM and perpetually aggrieved leftists

Curious what mental gymnastics it requires for a politard to use the Hong Kong-Shanghi Bank of China as a reference.

And they are too stupid to realize that the leftists weren't the ones buying their beer.

Just look at the left's chik fil a boycott. It ended up being a net gain in sales simply BECAUSE the left wanted to boycott it.

Which should tell the retard marxists here something. Your ideology is only wanted by media. The vast majority of American reject your beliefs. The same goes to the soft Republicans who think pro-life is a losing political argument. It's only a losing argument, if you don't believe in it. Every Republican that has leaned in hard to protect children in utero has seen massive support.
