You want to know what my job is? So you can try to ridicule me based on that knowledge? Pass.

You can think I work in education admin. That works. Or better yet, I don’t work at all.

Working outside at Angola is a privilege received for good behavior going back to the Burl Cain days. Angola was one of the most violent prisons in America before he became the warden. He created a system that rewarded good behavior instead of being trapped in a concrete box for the rest of your life.

Was there no farm before Burl Cain?

Will be interesting. Seems that the 13th amendment contradicts the 8th amendment in this instance

I do not see how.

But they waited a long time to bring this challenge didn't they

That goes without saying.

Let me remind you the it was YOU who asked me about my job first. I answered.

Then YOU ridiculed me.

You goose-steppers sure like to claim to be the victim, when in reality, you are anything but.

4cubbies doesn't answer questions. She just likes to spout her passive/aggressive bullshite and then retreat to her safe place.

You ridiculed me about being in education, which started this whole pointless change. I’m not your victim.

The conditions. Heat, primarily. Then there’s the disability layer.

Angola has faced challenges about inmate conditions for… ever.

So has every prison.

Convicts have a lot of time on their hands to challenge conditions.

By asking if you are sure that you are in education? Your responses since have supported my fully.

Correct.

I have done nothing to victimize you.

Ironically, it has been YOU that had been doing the ridiculing.

How can you not see that?

It is not cruel or unusual. People cannot read. Make a case that is is prohibited. Can anyone define cruel and unusual?

This addresses nothing about the OP.

Like how you refuse to address the fact that you continue to believe that Trayvon martin was shot and killed by police and Sandra bland was murdered by jail guards in her cell?

Isn’t it like obscenity? “I know it when I see it”

The class certification matters, but is in no way determinative…

I could be wrong, but I don’t think the suit will be successful, ultimately. Prisoners have worked within prison walls for decades. It’s that the farm line optics are reminiscent of slavery, I suppose.

The heat used is under the caution level as set by OSHA. We would need to see Angola's policies to see what they say for breaks, water, etc. I would suspect that Angola's policy writers would be smart enough to mirror the policies of industrial work done in the same conditions.

They do mention a harshly enforced quota system that if not met, leads to harsher punishment. The truthfulness of this will come out in court.

For this, they should stick to the claims of "they find ways to fill the rosters". This, of true, sounds shady on the part of the prison system, courts and lawyers.

If they continue down the path of trying to prove the work is inhumane, it could have unforseen consequences on private industries who have paid labor working in the exact same climate conditions.

In readings the article, there seems to be better things to go after.

No. It has to be clearly defined to have any legal standing in a document such as the conjobstitution.

But the Constitution doesn’t clearly define it.
