Which is precisely why you shouldn't give much of a frick when new federal permits aren't opened

Some of the best rock in the Permian Basin is in SE New Mexico, which said block of best activity is probably 40ish percent Federal surface and minerals. Maybe high 30s? Looking at a map of the area right now, so just trying to eyeball the comparative colors denoting Fed, NM State and Private lands.

So I’d say if there is a freeze on approvals of Federal drill permits, folks should probably “give a frick”.

then why are we having record high energy costs

We aren't

That was pretty easy

What world are you living in? It's the high cost of energy that is a major factor in the increase in inflation. Oh but let me guess, you are only looking at the present time statistics and not the 3.5 year history that will forever impact consumer prices until a major policy shift is adopted permanently and not just for the 90.days before an election.

Energy isn’t just gasoline …. now do electric power supply and average cost changes over the last 10 years.

Which effects the cost of everything BtW.

ETA: also how are we looking at refining capacity vs domestic demand?

I hear a lot of incessant whining from the ignorant about how we need to unleash American energy as if that already isn't happening. On the LNG front our LNG exports are booming and there are several current and future projects in the pipeline

Oh you mean the LNG exports that Biden paused earlier this year?

In 2020 at the last debated Biden claimed that he would end all drilling and fracking. Truth is that he signed and approved more leases and permits than Trump did. At the moment we are producing more than ever before.

We clearly have the domestic part of the supply side covered but energy prices still remain relatively high. We need an administration that can tackle the foreign part of the supply side. That's what's missing.

If we used gasoline as a proxy and get the price down to $2.50 a gallon (about a 30% decrease) that has a profound ripple effect in terms of stabilizing prices.

NM has always had a nice portion of fed lands.

These are your federal lands in NM. Different colors are different agencies. For example the pink is the DoD and yellow is BLM.

One where we don't have "record high energy costs" would be the simple answer to that.

And we could do even better without touching the federal land but we aren't

Have you ever thought to ask yourself why that is?

One thing is certain. If gas prices ever get to $2.00 a gallon again it won't be for any good reason. It will be because we're in a deep recession.

I don't see how people don't understand that

No. It's to get people to accept reality. I don't want anyone to vote for Harris

Know how I can tell you are clueless? Your entire post is BS. This administration has waged war on the oil and gas Industry from Day 1 when Joetato nixed the Keystone pipeline (helping Warren Buffet get richer), using illegal EO’s, and multiple Federal agencies from EPA, to FERC, to Interior, to the COE, to hamstring industry and generally try to put us out of business. The growth is almost 100% on private lands, or leases granted by previous administrations.

Here's the problem. The radical left wing of the Dems who have control have been trying to STOP the permitting of lng export facilities in the US. They have also slowed construction of new refinery's as well. This is not debatable.

LINK

On his first day in office, Biden signed an Executive Order to impose a temporary moratorium on oil and gas lease activities in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, withdrew offshore areas in Arctic waters and the Bering Sea from oil and gas drilling, and revoked a key permit for the Keystone XL pipeline. In June 2021, the Biden administration went further in ANWR and suspended oil and gas leases.

In his second week in office, he signed another Order that put a “pause” on new oil and gas leasing on federal lands and offshore waters. The Biden Administration violated Congressional statute by halting all federal oil and gas lease sales – onshore and offshore – and is thereby laying the groundwork for a decline in federal production over time.

Judge Orders Biden Administration to Resume Permits for Gas Exports

President Biden had paused new natural gas export terminals to assess their effects on the climate, economy and national security. A federal judge disagreed.

Electricity prices are 20% higher under Biden than under Trump.

This is really good to know.

I'm not voting for Harris mostly because if Harris gets in she will allow the Trump Tax Cuts to expire and my tax liability will substantially increase. So yes, my vote is driven by self interest.
