Can Trump win re-election without the farmer vote?

Yes

He took away one market. If your business was 100% reliant on the Chinese you put yourself in a very bad position.

Yes, it will be temporary when we elect a POTUS that will get in there and reverse the damage that Trump has done to the markets.

Pay now, or pay later.

Your premise is flawed. Trump will carry the farmer vote overwhelmingly.

Keep telling yourself that.

Another year of what happened this year and many of those votes will be coming from bankrupt farmers.

You really think farmers would vote for a man that destroyed their livelihood.

You do realize that the China stuff is one of the only bipartisan things happening up there right now?

He doesn’t even think that far.

It’s a simple equation; trump says or does anything = must resist

I looked up “farmer” Bob Kuylen.

Why did the article just refer to him as a farmer and not disclose that he is in fact Vice President of the ND farmers union?

Would you like to bet on it? Maybe a signature quote bet?

You're taking one farmer saying something and extrapolating that to a majority of farmers. Flawed logic.

American farmers have been among the hardest hit so far. China is the top market for many of their biggest crops and Beijing hit those crops with retaliatory tariffs. The Chinese tariffs targeted U.S. farmers because they helped vote Trump into power.

The trade war has hurt sales of a wide range of agricultural produce, including fresh fruit, meat and grains. The single biggest agricultural export from the U.S. are soybeans, most of which went to China before the trade war.

quote:

To compensate for lost sales to China, the U.S. government has rolled out two rounds of trade aid for farmers, expected to total $28 billion by the time they are done. The U.S. had doled out about $8.6 billion of that as of the end of June.

quote:

U.S. soybean exports to all countries fell to about $15 billion in the period from July 2018 to May 2019, down 27% from $20.6 billion in the same period a year earlier, the most recent U.S. Department of Agriculture data show. Exports to China alone were down 77% at just $2.5 billion, versus $11.2 billion from July to May a year earlier.

Yeah, I don't think the farmers being hurt by Trump's liberal trade policies, destroying free markets that took decades to develop is really going to be too moved by whether you believe it or not.
