Amendment 2 - St. George School District

What do you think the chances are that it passes tonight?

What happens if it doesn’t? Is there another path towards the separate school system?

Statewide? I think it passes somewhat easily.
Parish wide? It will be a nail biter. Baton Rouge proper will vote it down, St George will vote for it, and it is a toss up as to what Baker, Central, and Zachary do.

Wife, daughter and I voted yes. I really haven't seen much media on it here in Southdowns. Certainly nothing negative.

A lawsuit challenging the amendment process having a double requirement for schools is possible.

If it doesn't pass, how long until it can get back on the ballot? For some reason I've never heard an answer to this.

StG did basically nothing to raise awareness of this issue outside of Metro BR.
Tons of people north of I-10 would vote yes in a heartbeat, but I wonder whether the “usual” attitude towards all amendments (to vote No) will hurt the statewide chances.
Every black person in Louisiana is voting no. They got told that at church last Sunday

I’m hoping it’s passed easily. Our family in north LA is voting yes. All of the local media posts comment sections are full of people saying “no”, which naturally instills doubt in me that it passes.
Wife and I chose St. George because it’s absolutely perfect location for both of our jobs which we both love, but primarily with the hopes that our kids can go to a solid public school like we both did. If it doesn’t pass we will be moving east or south in the next 5 years.

Probably needs to pass the House and Senate again as a new amendment.
If so, it could be back after the next session if it passes again.
This is just spitballing though.

I grew up in what is now St George and would be living there if a school district had been in place before I got married.

I grew up in St. George, went to private school, and currently own a home in BR proper.
My wife and I will move to St. George and send our kids to St. George if it passes

A concerning thing for St. George supporters is reports of high early voting by blacks in EBR. The redistricting could have motivated the black vote including a no on all amendments.
If it fails, options are changing the constitution to make it easier to create school districts statewide or joining in to Central. There is a strip of land along the Amite that connects StG to Central. I don't know if the people of Central want all of that area joining their district.

I vote yes for any school district breaking away in every part of Louisiana because you know what theyre trying to do. Actually use the Fing schools they pay taxes for.

Most new school districts pass.....especially is the worst educated state in the world!

The black mantra for this round is no to all amendments. So they aren’t even thinking about it. Between this, the media, it will be close if non-democrats don’t show up

When it comes to strategy, I think the republicans have failed mightily at pushing the conservative backed amendments across the finish line. With all the drama with the districts maps and other issues, I think there will be voter distain at the polls. I would be shocked if any of the constitutional amendments passed. Just look at last year, all 4 of Landry’s backed constitutional amendments failed to pass. I think you’re looking at the same this year.

It’ll pass rather easily
The only people voting no are the rodents who will say their precious queenteifa and Latavian won’t be getting the same education as Braxton and Emily and white people are racist.
