They are firing the wrong people IMO. You want to force out the career people who should be retiring.

I have been laid off before. It sucks.

I don't wish that on anybody.

It won't be seen by many as fixing a long term issue nobody else wants to address but these cuts are going to get into almost everybody's back yard at some point.

Unemployment numbers were too low under Biden.

No one cares!

I had over 26 years in managing a 10 state sales territory. I had made or exceeded quota 19 years out of the 26 setting records for growth. I had just blown out Q1 with sales of 800K vs a 600K quota. I am still the top earning sales rep of all time in my group, and I got let go with no notice on a Monday AM call from my manager, who was in tears (lady), and a HR rep.

That was 5 years ago when covid kicked off. Today I am a VP of Sales at a small firm doing what I want, when I want. Still banking a 6 figure income. I had multiple offers and got to choose where I went next.

Things happen for a reason. If you have value, you will get snapped up in a heartbeat. If you want to stay at home and collect a check you are in for a rude awakening.

We had a guy from FEMA transfer into the FAA for air traffic because he was bored. He had no ability for air traffic whatsoever and was terminated. OP, is that a problem?

I'm not talking about them. I'm talking about Trump voting hard working people in rural America

What % of the federal workforce do you honestly believe this accounts for? Of that %, what % do you believe isn’t of the mindset that yes, it sucks, but Trump is right and a purge is necessary?

15 years in one position but recently got promoted or moved to a different position or agency and they still got fired.

Isn't that what happens to bad civil service employees?? - those who do absolutely nothing but are protected by the federal employee 'rules' ??

Just move them around, give them the 'promotions' their time-in-service warrants them to receive or else fear that they will file some sort of 'complaint'.

I saw this first hand back in the early days of 'affirmative action' at NASA - we hired an 'electrical engineer' from one of the 'black colleges' and when it was discovered she could not do anything useful, plus had a terrible attitude, they just moved her from one group to another so that no one group was saddled with dragging the anchor. When she got to my group, I discovered that her 'EE' degree was that she was a draftsman - she could draw nice electrical circuits.

Think about what you posted. 15 years in one position and promoted, and or moved. One way a government agency to get rid a problem or poor performer is to promote or move to a different agency. Let someone else deal with problem, firing is a pain in the arse. A government supervisor took advantage of the EO's to get rid of a problem or low performer.

A lot of people get promoted or transferred because they are poor performers and it easier to shift them or promote them vs going through the disciplinary route which can take forever

Seems like if you were already established with a good record and you move within the civil service you wouldn't be probationary.

Who knew that low employment and a robust economy would lead to runaway inflation and historical credit card debt for the lower and middle class?

Weird.

Pushing debt when unemployment is under 5 is the issue.

Classic economic view is under 5.0 unemployment, deficit spending stops becoming a stimulus and becomes and anchor.

There was also a lot of Biden political appointees who after the election were moved into the Civil Service positions for the purpose of resisting the Trump agenda. These people were also on probation and have been let go. You okay with this?

Who gives a shite? Since when are federal government jobs an entitlement to anyone? We could cut 50% of federal workforce and not miss a beat.

I like to think about the good hard working great men & women that lined up at the voting booth after work on election day with their maga hats and t shirts on. Just so proud and angry and eager to vote for trump. The military veteran federal workers that were within a couple years of retirement. … that President Musk and his presidential assistant Trump shitcanned his first 3 weeks in power.

These are the folks who gave Trump that 80% majority in the DC area, huh?

I imagine most federal office workers are women.

Women view employment much different than men. They see it as their identity.

The govt would collapse if we cut 50%. We can get there over time, but it would take a few years.
