I don't know this to be true. What we now do know is that the FBI has distanced themselves from this dossier in the past, specifically Comey. Now whether they indeed did independently verify anything contained in the dossier is an open and interesting questions. But again, and if the story is true, Comey seems to be potentially contradicting himself.

Hopefully there are some patriots in the intelligence community, and hopefully we get to the bottom of both as of yet unresolved issues, Trump campaign cooperation with Russians AND inappropriate surveillance.

Both issues unresolved. Both issues extremely important, but not worthy of a sticky I guess. History unfolding right before our eyes, and again people are missing it, just like the last election.

It just seems so incredibly unlikely a federal judge grants a FISA warrant on unproven rumors.

why?

if the agency swears it's the best they have, judges will rule on that. this is why secret courts and judges are terrible because we're not allowed to assess or judge the judges. at least in a normal court (where bad information is relied upon all the time), this information is public

were dates with the attorney shown to be completely false and he was at a college with his son at the time?

None of that was "proven false." Google Michael Cohen and Dossier and read about it yourself.

The Democrats story unravels more everyday. They'll all go down with the ship defending and denying. They're all beneath contempt.

Washington (CNN)The FBI last year used a dossier of allegations of Russian ties to Donald Trump's campaign as part of the justification to win approval to secretly monitor a Trump associate, according to US officials briefed on the investigation.

The dossier has also been cited by FBI Director James Comey in some of his briefings to members of Congress in recent weeks, as one of the sources of information the bureau has used to bolster its investigation, according to US officials briefed on the probe.

This includes approval from the secret court that oversees the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to monitor the communications of Carter Page, two of the officials said. Last year, Page was identified by the Trump campaign as an adviser on national security.

Officials familiar with the process say even if the application to monitor Page included information from the dossier, it would only be after the FBI had corroborated the information through its own investigation. The officials would not say what or how much was corroborated.

This is written in a way to where I'm wondering if the "Trump associate" mentioned in the first paragraph is actually Carter Page or someone else. Previous reporting from WaPo stated that Page was first put under surveillance last summer. However, McCain did not provide the dossier to Comey until December. I can see what they're saying if it used to support the renewal of a surveillance order though.

Either way, that parts of the dossier are being confirmed does not bode well for Donald.
