I have always been amazed that the US is the only country in the world to tax its citizens on foreign income.

Is it that amazing? As bloated and money hungry as our government is?

He just talking about a repatriation tax rate of 10% instead of the current 35% + which keeps foreign profits parked everywhere except the U.S.

This isn't true. UK taxes worldwide income. More so probably. But I know the U.K. Does.

Sick of the idea that so much of our physical currency is stashed overseas. Need to get that shite back now.

I, too, am sick of other countries' massive demand for our currency

Close.

Working out if you need to pay

Whether you need to pay depends on if you’re classed as ‘resident’ in the UK for tax.

If you’re not UK resident, you won’t have to pay UK tax on your foreign income.

If you’re UK resident, you’ll normally pay tax on your foreign income. But you may not have to if your permanent home (‘domicile’) is abroad.

Perhaps I should have clarified that my statement was aimed at citizens working abroad.

This.

It is amazing how little people know about the workings of our tax system.

I thought about going to the middle East for work. In the US, up to $100k of income is tax free. After that, you have to pay like everyone else in the states.
