For the first time since the indictment came down, Mayor Helena Moreno weighed in on the matter, saying she wants the city, state and federal levels to all work together to accomplish mutual goals. "How do we start over and find paths to get things done and that's where my real focus is in at like," said Moreno.
She added that things playing out in court are "unusual", citing the handcuffing of reporters at the courthouse the day of the indictment, but that her focus remains on the City of New Orleans.
I know the city will stiff the guy but that is an open and shut civil rights case for the reporter because the city violated the law in how they handled announcing the charges.

There’s no way Moreno didn’t know about the indictment in advance. I think she miscalculated the blowback from this and now she’s trying to walk it back.

There’s no way she didn’t know. This was also the completely wrong way to handle it. New Orleans is never going to win the fight, in civil or criminal court, vs the state in this scenario.
It is kind of concerning the way city leaders acted. You’re already dealing with a budgetary mess that most of them were involved with during the Cantrell administration. Now you want to go poke the bear that (believably) doesn’t want to extend much financial assistance to you due to your past colossal mismanagement.
I’m at a loss to this unnecessary soap opera.

She may be dumber than LaTeedy

Moreno went full retard on this one.
LSP is the organization that’s lessened crime in the city since the Super Bowl.
These geniuses can’t pay their bills, gave the casino over a decade of free rent, and are now think the city is this great autonomous state that doesn’t have to heed a warning from a state level official.
All because a law was read to Moreno about the consequences of her actions.
I can’t wait to see this blow up in their face even more than it already has.

Murrill needs to go after these people personally after state SC drops this idiocy.
Pain.
Pain.

They handcuffed the WWL-TV reporter and the stations attorney.

In a perfect world, Landry would call a special session specifically to bring NO to heel.

First, she didn’t just know. She green lighted the whole thing. There’s no way it happens without her approval. Second, if she has any sense she will see to it that this clown indictment is dismissed.

Of course she did.
From an article today on nola.com:

But Moreno did not take kindly to Murrill’s letters, and she shot back at Murrill in a video, saying there was “a criminal law that prohibits intimidating or threatening a public official in an effort to try to influence their decision or change their position.
She is probably the one who spearheaded it or was at least deeply involved. Now she is trying to play dumb and innocent. She is just another Democratic dumbass. She just isn't as outwardly dumb as Latoya.

What mutual goals has the City of Nola agreed to with the rest of Louisiana? It seems like the agreement has always been that NOLA gets everything they want and the rest of us just pay for it.

This seems to be an even bigger story, but is somewhat getting buried. How unbelievably shady is that? Not only that, but it's against state law for the grand jury indictment process which is supposed to be done in open court.
Everything about this process was bogus. The grand jury bringing the charges themselves (suuure), a "retired" judge coming out of retirement to run things claiming she didn't know what it was about (suuuuure), another crooked and dumbass judge (Roche) closing the court doors so no media, etc., could be present as the grand jury handed down their indictment, and arresting a media member and an attorney for doing absolutely nothing wrong, etc.

... this is exactly what a certain group of people were expecting , an autonomous nation within the United States of America
But darn, she didn't win the prez election ...
waconda forever
sort of thing

She realized she fricked up big time...
Letting that power go to her head way too soon...

She knew, hence the little video she posted on social media....
She didn't go to the news with it because she knew they would ask questions...
Disappointing she's turning out like this, I guess it's still shady NO politics with a prettier face.

... go look at issues before the City Council over the last six years. Things like traffic restrictions for streets like Freret and Willow . On paper it's due to road construction, but underneath it's à gated community.
Also re-wording city contracts and limiting said contracts to exclude communities ...
Stuff like that

The dumbest part about this is they chose the nuclear option WHILE engaging in shady behavior. They're just all opening themselves up to legit LAAG/USDOJ inquiries and future prosecutions.
