Alaska Will Have All Mail-In Ballots and No Signature Check

“There is no statutory authority to verify signatures, but voters will have to provide witness signatures,” a March 25 email from Alaska’s Division of Elections stated.
Since this will be the first time Alaska has ever conducted a statewide mail-in election, concerns have been raised about how the state will ensure that voters are who they claim to be.
Multiple bills have been introduced in the current legislative session to address voter integrity issues, including voter signature verification, but they have languished in various House and Senate committee assignments. Lt. Gov. Kevin Meyer submitted legislation to the current Legislature to address this issue, but his Senate Bill 167 has languished in the Senate State Affairs Committee since Jan. 18th with no movement. Several other bills dealing with voter signature verification have been introduced, including House Bill 96 by Gov. Mike Dunleavy. That bill has stalled in the House State Affairs Committee.
Dumb asses! all of them!

Gotta make sure Murkowski stays in power.

If the Right had its shite together, the state would have 200 million mail in votes to process/possibly count.

They should be moving in the opposite direction. Make everyone walk into a building and show proof of your identity

When that little shite Begich (Dumbass-AK) wins his dad’s old seat to fill out Don Young’s term, the state GOP still won’t realize their error.

Utah is mail-in and we've got competent people comparatively to other states but I still don't trust the system. I worked the second Bush election as a Precinct Supervisor (with no experience) and I was shocked at what I witnessed. There was no purposeful malfeasance, but just a bunch of dumb people working for a $50(?) paycheck. My personal experience would lead me to believe that if you have bad intentions, you could easily game an election.
This might be one of the only cases where the Brits have it correct. Paper ballots, and I'm a past tech guy.

I’m okay with whatever Alaska wants to do. States are the laboratories of democracy. The GOP needs to dispatch a legion of experts in election law up there to oversee what’s going on. I think they’ll prove what Jimmy Carter said about mail in voting being the biggest source of potential voter fraud.

Working with tech makes you quickly realize how something, by accident or intent, quickly spirals out of control if not done properly.
You typically don’t know there is a problem until it has already bitten you in the arse.

Flood the mail with in-kind resemblance to ballots, but no actual vote cast due to legalities. Force the development of a process to identify and verify ballots.

Alaska will miraculously have the population of California in Nov. 2022

They will all claim permanent status to get the checks too

For state elections, fine

Another blue state on the way!

This kind of thing ironically cements the exact opposite of a “ democracy”.

quote:I'd agree and also say that the political leanings and the culture in Utah doesn't open itself to political machine fraud. Its a young state and also very conservative, so there's not really the math to legitimately steal an election. In other states - particularly the midwest - where party affiliation is more balanced you definitely could sway elections with bad actions.
