Right up the alley of southern GOPe conservative types

Sounds more like something a democrat would do. Afterall, democrats ran the state of Alabama house and senate from Reconstruction until 2010.

Here is a much better summary of the bill.

It is certainly fair to ask whether it is a good bill, but it is not nearly as bad a bill as the OP represents.

The problem lies in the fact that many Alabama small towns have learned to game the system. As my lawyer once explained to me, your “rights” don’t factor into the equation when finding you guilty or innocent because they are betting most people can’t or won’t appeal a guilty verdict to the next level because that will run you about 20k easily. Even if you do decide to appeal, they really don’t give a shite if it’s overturned because they’ve collected their pound of flesh from you. Once you’re eyes are opened to the fact that there are multiple entries that have a vested financial interest in you regardless of guilt or innocence you realize it’s a giant scam and you aren’t winning regardless of your guilt or innocence

Something tells me that this is not isolated to Alabama.
