They've got a long way to go before it impacts an Alabama election. 2022 is too soon. Any Democrat gets their arse handed to them. An incumbent just lost to Tommy Tuberville by 20 points.

They're currently jamming federal election laws into every single piece of federal legislation they draft. These laws will supersede state and local laws.

I don't think there is any way they get any such measure through the Senate.

They won't do so in a clean bill. They'll put in some sort of COVID relief bill or similar.

Good, although it's hard to see that pork-monster hanging it up unless the establishment has his replacement picked with full confidence of election.

Sessions isn't it. The lobby world has never been completely fond of him and he's too anti-China for their tastes. I'll bet they try and haul Luther Strange back out...either that, Bradley Byrne or maybe Gary Alexander. Sadly, Alabama doesn't really have a lot of "MAGA" stars in the GOP ranks that I'm aware of. They just have a bunch of old democrats who have a knack for getting elected.

Are there such provisions in this relief bill they're trying to push through reconciliation? I tried to look it up and didn't find any articles about that. It is very possible that the media simply isn't reporting on that though. Hard to trust web searches these days.

One of the relief bills that was drafted while Trump was in office had radical election legislation in it.

What’s Gus Malzahn up to theses days? Getting fired byAuburn seems to be the pipeline to the Senate in AL.

this should be interesting. A child molester almost winning, then a football coach. Alabama politics is always entertaining

You can bet your sweet arse that a Democrat will win that seat hands down

Birmingham will find juuuust enough votes past midnight to give the Dems another seat. No doubt in my mind.

Palmer, not Alexander. That's who I was thinking of.

After seeing what they did to Mo Brooks when he ran for Sessions seat, I can only imagine the war if he runs again. I hadn't considered Britt, but I wouldn't be terribly excited about a straight-up lobbyist shooting for Senate either.

It’s time. Past time really. Shelby has done a lot for this state, but he’s the epitome of establishment Republicans. Notice he never said a peep really about Trump.

It’s time for Bradley Byrne or Del Marsh to get in there.

Quite a few GOP seats up for grabs in 22.

Alabama
North Carolina
Ohio
Pennsylvania
Wisconsin

Then you have Arizona and Georgia where the GOP will try to take their seats back.

Shelby was instrumental and key in bringing the space force headquarters to Huntsville, Alabama.

That kind of big get for Alabama does not happen without Shelby swinging a big dick as Chairman of Appropriations in the senate.

"Will not seek a 7th term."

So, 36 years sucking at the national teat was enough?

She's a sharp lady, for sure, but I don't think she has the name recognition to win a state-wide race yet.

That said, if she wins the Republican primary she would win the general election.

All I know about her is her work with the Business Council of Alabama though. I don't know much about her views unrelated to business.
