He was jogging alright. Right into empty homes under construction at night. Some dude on this forum argued the guy was just jogging, you know waving at people and stuff. Just an innocent jogger doing his thing. Probably why those surveillance cameras were there in the first place. It appears the neighborhood had problems with chronic criminal trespassing.

But is criminal trespassing a serious crime? I mean is it a felony? I did a query and found this.

The crime of criminal trespass involves a person knowingly entering or remaining on a property on which he knows he does not have permission to be. Criminal trespass is most often a misdemeanor, though it can be prosecuted as a felony, especially if the trespass results in damage to persons or property.

This is the ludicrous issue here. I have built a house before. I am sure 99% of the stooges on here would be amazed at how many people come off the street and look at your house while it is being constructed. It is not really that critical unless you get vandalized. When you get appliances in is when the serious theft is possible. Contractors I had never left anything of value laying around .

When we were building, we met several neighbors that way.
We'd walk in and hear voices speculating on what rooms were going to be used for. Made for some funny conversations.

Look, dude didn’t deserve killing, but let’s knock off the “he was checking out the floor plan” garbage.

Yep, drove up on my house under contruction once, after dark. My appliances were delivered that day, with installation scheduled for the next day. Yep, you guessed it, there parked in my driveway was a white van. He pulled out, and I chased him down the street. Cornered him in a cul-de-sac down the street. What a dumb move, I thought. Blocked his exit. Then I thought, I don't have a weapon, and it's not worth maybe getting killed. I let him exit and leave.

It wasn't like this years ago. Paint me sad.

Just to give him the benefit of the doubt, you don't have to start your jog at your house.

Everyone I know that doesn't start from their house, goes to a park and jogs the public trails. They don't drive somewhere just to run through other neighborhoods.

If this is what he did, then where was his car? I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere. Did he have a friend drive him away from his house and drop him off in another neighborhood just so he could jog?

None of the "jogger's" actions make sense. It's possible but certainly not plausible.

Sure. Lots of people plan a route fairly near their home to drive across a 4lane road, park their car and jog in cargo shorts.

People jog halfway across the city here, I don't see how that's a big deal.

Of course, I looked at the street view of the likely routes from his house, and they certainly don't look very desirable from a runner perspective.

This debate has jumped the shark.

When you’re arguing what distance makes something “your neighborhood”, you’ve probably begun grasping at the most circumstantial of circumstantial evidence

I honestly see no issue with the theoretical distance. 4 miles isn't much

But yeah

He wasn't jogging.

He could also walk to a particular area or neighborhood before starting to jog.

Would be nice to ask him these questions wouldn't it?

They say he was jogging in the neighborhood. Did he live there?

Is there some new law that I'm not aware of that says you can only jog in your neighborhood?
