Agreed.

If Witness A sees a crime committed, her obligation is to report that crime to an LEO. It is NOT her obligation to do the forensic work for them or to find the other witnesses, if any. Law enforcement is supposedmto do that. If law enforcement cannot FIND any more evidence, the jury should let the ALLEGED perp walk.

This woman has told a story. The Dems have the burden of finding any other evidence of this purported event. If they cannot do so, the GOP members of the committee have the obligation to have the BALLS to disregard the uncorroborated story and confirm Judge Kav.

The Dems will fail to meet their burden. Let’s see if the Republicans have the balls to do their job.

Okay,

So if your job was to pick up one trash bag full of trash every day, and at the end of the day you showed up to the boss's office and said "got my bag today," and the boss said "okay let's see it and you'll be properly rewarded" and you then say "it's not my job to prove I have the bag only to collect the bag."

Do you think you'd get compensated?

She’s pushing for the FBI to investigate. It’s not her job to find evidence; it’s theirs. I’m sure she’s willing to assist in that, but no, it’s not her job.

Agreed. They did their job and said “no thanks, this is BS”. Case closed. Glad we agree.

It would help if she could recall any details which would allow other witnesses to be found.

Like a year.
Or a city.
Or a house.
Agreed. Any of those things would make her story less incredible.

None of that, however, shifts the burden to her from the Dems on the Committee.

This thread contains at least a dozen such silly hypos, and all of them make the same VALID point.

The GOP members of the committee have the obligation to recognize a questionable story and to vote accordingly.

um....wow

moving forward the GOP needs to up its smear game. they're so nutless when it comes to this stuff. it often seems like they'd prefer to use crazy conspiracy theories to try the same thing

timing matters, honestly

this is clearly just a delay tactic and while the allegations shouldn't be discredited because of the ruse, the effects should be

if anyone is upset over that, they should blame the politicians who sat on it

think of it like a statute of limitations. even if it's rue, the cause of action is dead

Seriously, at this point, any Republican that doesnt vote to confirm needs to get the bar of soap in the pillowcase treatment.

Republicans are cowering idiots that seem to fail to keep theirs in line.
This guy gets it.

anyone who doesn't see this as a pure delay tactic is a liar or a complete idiot

EVEN IF IT'S TRUE, sitting on it and obstructing the committee to "force the FBI to investigate" is purely a delay tactic

IF IT'S TRUE, then the villains are (1) Kav and closely following him (2) Feinstein, for sitting on this to make it's impacts more about the timing than the accusation

They are clearly trying to hold out until the midterms. They want an investigation now? Something expeditious like, say, the Mueller investigation?

Another question: are we at a point in this country where we need an official non-partisan referee on everything from the granting of FISA warrants to the IRS’ treatment of political organizations who oppose the current President to politically motivated attempts to delay a Supreme Court confirmation?

The inmates are running the asylum.

We'll Miss Kattz, they kind of already did this. The FBI refused the case.

It’s likely that this story from Blasey has been pretty thoroughly vetted by the Dems.

The reason they’re using it now is that it is a shite accusation. If it had any merit at all, they would’ve used it when they received it.

She may have initially given a house where it happened. Or a year. Or a day. And none of those passed even a thirty-plus year smell test. So they told her to back off the detail and just sell the narrative.

And they know she’s crazy. And they’re perfectly willing to sacrifice her and her family on the altar of a midterm election. It’s despicable.

Without knowledge of this accusation? Yes.
How is this an FBI issue to begin with? Statute of limitations is 1 year and not a federal issue but a state issue. What is there for the FBI to investigate?
