Because when Vitter released a detailed radically conservative platform to campaign on, he lost. It seems like all of the campaigns are playing things really safe and close to the vest. I have routinely criticized Rispone’s camp, especially, for looking utterly incompetent in the way they are advertising their candidate.

He has a great platform. A little unrealistic in my opinion because I do not believe the ignorant voters of La would approve a new state Constitution, but even without it he has a solid platform. The fact that he chose to go negative is just sad because now JBE is within sniffing distance of winning in the primary and some of the people that he pushed away from Abraham are going over to JBE.

They went straight from incompetent to stupid and deceitful.

I really was not sure who would be best for our situation, but I will vote as many times as they let me for Ralph.

Yep, and you hate to see it. Rispone was at his best in the debate where he appeared strong, wonkish, and above the fray.

Because he spent/wasted $4 million of his personal fortune trying to develop name i.d. and still couldn't break into second place.

So...instead of focusing over the final few weeks on touting his own goals or drawing attention to how terrible the governor is...Rispone decided to spend another several million dollars of his own money to lie about Abraham's character (despite Rispone having very recently praised Abraham in public) with nonsense in hopes that he could slime his way into a runoff.

I think along the way Rispone forgot that most voters aren't generally that stupid...most remember how tacky it was in 2015, when the net result gave us the accidental governor we now have. The one who up until a week or so ago looked like he was going to be forced into a runoff and later defeated by Abraham.

I still see Abraham and Edwards heading to a runoff.

What percentage of voters, for either candidate, do you think could tell you anything about Vitter's platform?

Every lawyer in the state could. I know a lot of very conservative defense attorneys who votd for JBE because they were afraid Vitter’s radical tort reform would hurt their businesses. No plaintiffs means no demand for defense lawyers.

I've been lurkin a while but finally decided to set up an account and jump in. Just to clear things up...calling Abraham "establishment" and saying "he's running because there's no room for him to move up in the hierarchy" is totally false. Abraham is anything but establishment. He's as much an "outsider" as Rispone. The dude ran for office for the first time ever a few years ago. His resume is as equally impressive as Rispone's...albeit in a different field. Well...fields because Abraham has a few degrees. I'm not stepping on your toes, but Abraham ran for Congress because a huge, raging weirdo named Vance Mcalister tarnished the office while being busted on a security camera making out with his friend's wife. Abraham stepped up to the plate a few short years ago. Seems to me he's doing exactly the same thing now. He and Rispone were cut from a fairly similar piece of cloth. As recently as this summer Rispone was on camera praising Abraham for his integrity and running for the right reasons. Only thing that's changed is Rispone got greedy and decided to take his eye off the ball. I can't believe my first post is this long and boring.

First post is right on dude. You nailed it.

We should all hope to do this well on our first post.
