Thursday's poll, which was paid for by the Abraham campaign, showed Edwards with 47 percent followed by Abraham with 22 percent and Rispone with 20. "The governor and my Republican challenger have spent a fortune on TV lying to the people of this state about my record and my character, and we're still standing," said Abraham, who's campaign says he's been outspent 10 to 1. "I'm not going to resort to those tactics," he said. "The people of this state deserve better than that. Republicans must unite to defeat this governor, and I'm going to lead by example."

Rispone's attack on Abraham is clearly having an effect. What is interesting is Abraham felt the need to release a poll claiming a "lead" that is really just a statistical tie between Rispone and he. In fact with a margin of error of 4.6%, Abraham's own poll could mean he is actually losing to Rispone.

What is more interesting though is the last poll I remember seeing had Edwards at 44, and this one has him at 47, very nearly what he would need to win in the primary. Again, the margin of error in this poll is huge. But if Abraham wants us to take the numbers in this poll at face value, then it shows he and Rispone both on the verge of being snuffed out in the primary.

I was a big Abraham supporter but have switched my support to Rispone. I pray for a runoff.

Ugh. My butthole is starting to tighten.

They need to train their guns on JBE.

WTF is the margin of error so high? Are they not taking enough of a sample?

Beat the jobs drum.

Beat the people leaving Louisiana drum.

Beat the increased taxes drum.

I'm not hearing it enough.

JBE ain’t getting 50%. It’s be him and Rispone in the runoff, and Eddie will win.

Yeah I assume that's it. You want a really good poll, you've got to pay a lot more.

I'm not as confident as you in this. I think there's a good chance for a run off, but I think there's still a big gap for Edwards to lose still somehow. I hope I'm wrong.

Look at the candidates the GOP chose and it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to recognize that JBE will win re-election.

Eddie can’t beat JBE, he is too liberal on wedge issues that could be used to beat him - like being against the death penalty.

2015 was a fluke, and again... screw you to all of the self-righteous cucks that didn’t support Vitter. Bunch of weak arse Republicans who never fight back. A bunch of Mitt Romneys. Fight or shut up.

Let me guess, Ralphie is all in favor of biblical justice?

I was originally leaning Abraham. Then I learned Rispone was the most open to the idea of a constitutional convention, this made him my favorite candidate. Then Rispone joined JBE and the Democrats in attacking a fellow GOP candidate, reminisced of Scott Angelle’s and Jay Dardenne’s despicable act.

I will not now vote for Rispone nor JBE in the jungle. I’m now 100% Abraham unless he becomes more trashy than Rispone.

In the unfortunate event that Rispone edges out Abraham, I will hold my nose and vote for him only because I find him only slightly less despicable than JBE.

I’m not voting for a governor who refuses to allow an execution. Which means I can’t vote for Rispone.

No doubt.

But the current constitution doesn’t allow our elected government officials to control most of the budget! This is a shitshow of biblical proportions!

He might not... But I have talked to alot of folks here in Vernon parish and the news ain't good. Folks here despise Rispone now and most say that in the event of a runoff between Rispone and Edwards that they will stay home. Said they will never pull the lever for either one. I can only imagine that folks in north Louisiana think the same.... I'm afraid that if Rispone beats Ralph Abraham then JBE is a shoo in to be re-elected.

That could be amended out of the constitution at any time, and parts of such proposals have been put to the voters before and rejected.

A constitutional convention is not needed to do that. Why do we need a convention?

I'm not necessarily opposed to it, I just think of it as a side issue, and not important enough to make a difference among candidates for governor.

I get it man, but we have so many other issues that are far more important than death row. We can get back to that later. For the time being, this state has to be put back on the rails. If Rispone can do it, I don't care if he won't be putting down criminals.
