Twenty two years you said correct?

Every year you took the jab for a flu shot at a minimum, why not turn those down (when proven less effective than COVID vax)?
When the VA asked if I wanted to get the shot I said sure. I have had Anthrax multiple times and as someone else said smallpox, typhoid, TB ...etc etc etc. My shot records are no shite 3 plus pages.
If there were some diabolical plot to inject us with something that would eventually “thin the herd”, they would like you and your logic.
Talking about this vaccine as if you don’t understand how it’s different (the political nature of the whole pandemic, the time for development, the relative lack of testing, the complete lack of long-term studies, the overarching “shots in every arm” narrative, the draconian enforcement all out of proportion with the threat, etc) from other vaccines makes you seem simple-minded.
There may be plenty of sound reasons for taking this vaccine, but “I took all the others” is not one of them.

Don’t be an idiot. Of course I know how they work. The real question is do you know what an actual vaccine was before the CDC changed definitions a couple of weeks ago?
The only assertion I made was that they were not the same and you posted the proof. Thanks .
Sir your the one showing your ignorance and immaturity. I don't know you, so I don't know that you know. All I could go off of is that you are dead set against mRNA vaccines, however you do not seem to have any evidence to be concerned. At least none you have revealed. Thanks.

Word. I'm glad my wife and I left the USAF when we did (5 years ago). shite has gotten fricking nuts.
Congrats on getting your DD-214

That is correct, yes.

So you weren't around for the anthrax uprising in the USAF and ANG.

There's no point trying to rationalize with this guy. He's made it clear that anyone not lining up to take the vaccine is a moron.

Let’s just say that I’m mature enough that all of the log books I’ve signed belong to Hueys and Starlifters.
I apologize for my rudeness. I am not antivax. In fact, I got the more traditional Janssen vaccine because I have to go to some seedy countries in the course of my work. I just don’t think that the mRNA therapies are vetted well enough to be mandated for a virus that has a 99% global survival rate once you actually get it.

For not taking the vaccine. They're giving me an Article 92 for "failing to follow an order" and giving me an admin discharge. I outright told them "no" and they weren't too happy, but I'm not about to be a lab rat.

As a former 1st Sergeant I'm curious as to what they have told you about this admin discharge. Please give more information.
- You say they are giving you an Art 92, however I believe you mean they are giving you administrative paperwork in the form of an Letter or Reprimand or Letter of Counseling. Or they may be giving you NJP (non judicial punishment) via an Article 15.
- What does you Personal Information File have in it? Do you have other administrative actions in there? An admin separation is not that clear cut.
- Are they tying this into you not being "World-wide" qualified?

Ok well how old were you when you got those vaccines and how old are you now? Serious question.
First 3 anthrax - 25
Finished series at age 28
First smallpox - 25
Second smallpox - 39
"Korean cocktail" - 39
Last anthrax booster - 41
Pfizer COVID - last month
You and I are the same age
Retired after 20 years, 6 months
I never had issues with the anthrax shot beyond my arm locking up for 2 days.

There's an amendment on the next defense bill that would require all covid related discharges to be classified as honorable. I'm assuming if that passes through I'll be able to retroactively change the status before then. And I hope to God that Trump or DeSantis will make it in 2024 regardless of my benefits

Yea, those guys who are in 4 to 6 years really enjoy a HUGH financial separation from the services. Folks like you have no idea about the military always think you do.

To be quite honest I don't recall much uproar over it. Sure maybe a few folks were concerned about it but at the end of the day we raised our right hands and agreed to defend this great nation, we were not forced to enlist. You may be familiar with one of our Core Values: "Service before Self"

If you have multiple separate enlistments and receive an admin discharge do you still forfeit VA benefits, being that you do have a previous honorable discharge DD214?
you keep your va benefits if you received a prior honorable.

I'd say that is quite the reaction my friend. I sure as shite would not want my arm "locking up" for 2 days yet alone a few minutes. Maybe you just have a weakened immune system these days. You and I being the same age doesn't tell the whole story. I keep myself in relatively good shape, do you?
Posted on 9/15/21 at 4:02 pm to SicSemperTyrannis
Maybe you can re-enlist after President DeSantis takes over.

I try. I've had to constantly restart my marathon training plan.
The week I got the first Pfizer shot, my mile splits dropped from 8:20 to 9:30 and that lasted 2 weeks. I'm finally back to around 8:15 mile splits. I will never get back to O3 shape (6:15 splits).
My half marathon time was 1:51:38, but that was 4 years ago.
18k in Baghdad in June 2011 was 1:30:20

FYI....he has not reenlisted he is 4 years into a 6 year enlistment. And you are also right in a way, being this is an admin discharge he will get out on an Honorable or General and maybe but unlikely a Other than Honorable discharge...most of which do not effect benefits.
The only way you get a Bad Contact discharge or a Dishonorable discharge is through a court martial, which this Airman is not up against.
quote:
Honorable Discharge
An honorable discharge is by far the most common with over 85 percent of veterans receiving this type of discharge. Veterans with an honorable discharge are entitled to all VA benefits (e.g., disability compensation, educational, healthcare, vocational).
General Discharge Under Honorable Conditions
General discharge means that you met the requirements of service, likely with some minor disciplinary actions, or failure to meet certain standards. However, overall, your military performance was considered satisfactory. Veterans who receive general discharges under honorable conditions are entitled to all VA benefits, with the exception of GI Bill education benefits.
Other Than Honorable (OTH) Discharge
An OTH discharge is typically an undesirable discharge. It means you had some serious departures from the conduct, protocol, and performance expected of a service member. Examples of situations that might result in an OTH discharge include security violations, serious misconduct that endangers other members of the military, or use of deliberate force to seriously hurt another person.
