About those murder hornets

More fear porn from the media.
Here's the real story on the murder hornet.
While it is true that those bastards were found in North America - one colony was found and destroyed on Vancouver Island in September 2019. One hornet from that colony was found (dead) on the US side of the border in Washington State.
There have been ZERO sightings of the hornet dead or alive in 2020. If they were, they would be within 50 miles of Vancouver Island. They did ask local authorities in Washington state to keep watch in case there were any queens that escaped the colony that was destroyed in September.
A local report was done featuring a state entomologist. That report was picked up months later by national media and it has exploded.
Additionally, these hornets are huge (good for fear porn) and have large colonies (great for fear porn), they will be much easier to detect and eradicate than most invasive insects.
Despite the media branding them as “murder hornets” (fear porn) they are no more aggressive than other yellowjackets and European hornets, which are already widespread in the US. While I have my reasons to be a bit cautious around vespids, unless their nest is disturbed or you are allergic they pose little danger.
Any reports of people seeing them should be taken with high skepticism.

Bees in the United States kill more people than those things kill in all Asia.

I recall the killer bee hoopla. The media is a shithole.

Awe man , I saw that report on the " Murder Hornets " and immediately grabbed all my family members , MRE's , generator , and ran directly to my bunker . We were ready to wait them out for sure . Never thought it was fake news. Thanks for the update .

He had an informative post. Your post seems strange.

Those things dont scare me. They fly slow and are big enough to hit with a whiffle ball bat.
Yellow jackets on the other hand can barely be seen while they napalm your skin.

I bought up all the Toilet Paper, paper towels and water at the Kroger. I feel like I'm well prepared.
On a serious note, if I understand correctly, there currently aren't any Asian murdering hornets in the US?

i got absolutely lit the frick up by hornets as a teenager.
7 stings on my back.
i have since developed an allergy to bee stings (assuming also wasps and hornets, but haven't been stung by either to confirm for sure).
so now every hornet or yellow jacket i see is a giant murdering bastard.
not even going to try to lie and act tough about it.

There is one thing that they could do if they multiply in N. America and that is if they threaten African killer bees. There was a study in Puerto Rico to explain the severe drop off in killer bees deaths. At first they thought they had interbred with Euro honey bees and were less aggressive. However, dna analysis proved this is not the case. Turns out they had little competition, and each generation was producing more worker bees as opposed to the more aggressive soldier bees.
So if these hornets somehow threaten killer bees, then the killer bees might produce more aggressive soldier bees and might kill some folks(the few that get too close). This is the most danger to people the Asian murder hornet is to the American people for they are not that aggressive. In other words there really is nothing to fear from them.

Unless they kill all the bees.

Bees actually lure them into their colony and kill them with heat. Here is a video of bees killing the Japanese giant hornet, which is very closely related to the Asian murder hornet. They are so closely related, that there is an ongoing debate on whether they should be classified as the same subspecies. Bees are not defenseless against them.
Anyway the video is pretty interesting. 3 minute youtube video

Stephen King is on his 14th chapter already after hearing about this.

Every time you walk outside without a bee keeper suit on, a swarm of murder hornets attacks a child. Why do you want children to die?
