Abbott's office has announced a ceremonial bill signing of the bill and other gun-related legislation at 11 a.m. Thursday.
Abbott's signature seals a win to conservative activists who have long sought the measure without success. Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and other Republicans who were initially noncommittal about the bill were under immense political pressure this session from conservatives and gun rights advocates, who have long lobbied the Texas Legislature for permitless carry but historically struggled to win support.

I think the argument goes that open carry intimidates or scares people. It’s a weak argument IMO.
I don’t mind open carry but for me personally, I’d rather walk quietly but carry a big stick. I don’t want someone to know that I’ll take care of business until they need to know. Open carry as a law is nice because it removes the concern about printing.

imo I wouldnt open carry around civilization bc it just seems absurd. aside from the potential intimidation of sheep it makes yourself a target of the wolves if anything were to go down.
