People say video games make people dumb. But the only reason I know what this is, along with the other distillates that come from the refining of crude oil is because of a mine craft mod where you mine the oil and then refine it to use as energy.

So Venezuela is importing oil? With huge oil reserves??
This is EXACTLY how Socialism works.
I hope Trump is successful because he is about to loose his base because of Ukraine and this stupid shite with Mamdani.

My son is in to minecraft, I'm going to ask him if he's done that- I don't think he has or else he'd have probably mentioned it.

For them it is like drinking seawater... they have all the oil they can handle, but can't make fuel out of it without diluting it.
If I had to guess it is a 3-way transaction with naphtha coming in from the shadow fleet, crude is processed, and then delivered to India (maybe China) with India paying the Russians.

It's a mod, so it's unlikely. He probably plays on console like my youngest(25) and grand kids.
But if he plays on PC and he's a nerd, it's cool stuff. Refining is actually just a small part of it, you break all kinds of things down into the basic elements and then combine them to create different acids, solutions etc. A good bit about metals also and making alloys like brass, zinc, nickel, steel etc.

Funny that you wrote this. At one time Saudi Arabia was the largest importer of sand in the world. I think it was during 70/80s construction boom. May still be, I don't know.
You see, the sand in Saudi Arabia is to fine to use in the making of concrete.

He's always talking about mods and curseforge(sp?)... plays on PC and Xbox. What do I tell him to hunt down? I asked him if he'd heard of oil and refining on there and he said no.
If you have any mod suggestions to throw my way I'll pass it on to him!

The mod I play is called terrafirmagreg. It's actually a collection of like 100 mods. It's the most extreme and grindy version of the game. It would take him a year probably just to get to the oil part, and that's not even half way.
It's completely different than normal minecraft. Where as you can get some iron within minutes, you have to carve basic tools out of stone. You can't chop trees down. You start out collecting little pieces of metal on the surface and then you can melt them down into molds. Dirt tiles have gravity. It has seasons and crops follow the seasons. It has temperatures and you can freeze to death, or die of heat stroke(especially when smelting).
In the original version, you kill a pig and it drops leather. In this version you have to process the skin. Tan it, scrape it, rinse it, etc. Everything is extremely grindy and a detailed process. You can't just build a boat out of a few pieces of wood, you have to carve it.
Oh yeah and there is a lot of geology. Different rock types and different places all the different ores exist.
And then you eventually progress into greg tech. Basically you start out in the primitive stone age and progress into the future of rockets and so forth.
I've never finished the mod. I've been playing it for a couple of years now and I'm not even half way through. I've just started refining/distilling oil recently.

I sent him this thread, He's already messing with it. Was familiar with the account of the video you posted.
Down side... now he has the address to my corner of internet entertainment and definitely figured out my handle since it's his dog.
Anywho, SallysTeenageHuman says "Thank you"!

Venezuela has the largest proven oil reserves in the world, estimated at approximately 303 billion barrels. Despite this vast resource, the country has faced significant challenges in oil production and exportation.
Do to mismanagement, lack of maintenance, putting incompetent people on the payroll, and increasing the cost of production beyond what their heavy crude can command on the market, their output is about a third of what it used to be.
Socialism, works like this every time it’s tried!
