Is simple.
Swift execution...and I don't mean waiting years for all appeals to be exhausted.
Does not matter if person is mentally unstable or not. End their lives like they did others and do it swiftly.
Basically an eye for an eye. Jmo.

Never happen, Dems want them as future voters, and will give them appeal after appeal...

That's unconstitutional.

In the cap pun debate this is called 'certainty' and it deals with the deterrence effect.
Certainty has two components:
a. What are the chances I'll get the DP?
b. How long before I actually die?

In the US both of those risk factors have plummeted over the last 100 years.

The Unibomber, the Menendez brothers, Mumi Abu Jamal, Charles Manson, etc. were never executed.
Those murderers who did get the DP average 20 years stalled due to appeals.

So, you are right that swift execution increases deterrence as long as it doesn't increase the life sentence ratio.

One argument that frequently gets left out is 'societal retribution.' It says that some crimes are so heinous (like randomly killing school children) that deterrence has no need for consideration. We want the perp to die because it makes us feel better. I know if that Cruz were put to death this afternoon it would make me feel great.

A good example of societal retribution is Adolph Eichmann. Israel doesn't have the DP. But they killed him anyway because it was necessary to assuage the anger of his victim's families.

Imo, You lose that right when you intentionally take another person's life.

Our court system is a joke. Convicted murderers in jail for life or death row inmates held for 10+ years is dumb and wasteful.

Just go ahead and inject the guilty as soon as the sentence is handed down and move on.

It's called accountability.

Rope is cheaper and it should be carried out in a public setting.

And on the issue of accountability...

Same sentence to be carried out upon a corrupt DA or LEO who corrupts the process with false evidence or withholding exculpatory evidence. Just to be "Fair and Just". Too many political animals willing to sacrifice others for their personal gain on both sides of the courtroom.

I hope you're intimately familiar with the self defense laws in your local jurisdiction. It would be a shame if a court found that your response wasn't proportional to the threat...

So many murders are crimes of passion it is unlikely to work.

I am 100% for this. In fact I would submit a law should be passed where if any DA or LEO get a conviction based upon false evidence or withholding evidence that they be given the exact same sentence that the wrongly accused received. That would definitely stop the corruption.

Eff 'em.
It's because of their beliefs why we have all the problems.
So, eff 'em.

Saudi Arabia put over 2000 people to death last year yet they still have violent crime. Swift death penalty is not a deterrent to fricking crazy people. In most of these cases these people go in knowing they will die either by police or by taking their own life.
