They've already successfully encroached significantly on 2nd Amendment rights. Several types of firearms are now illegal to own, furthermore, firearms must be registered when purchased from a store or dealer. We have been told that registration will never be used for confiscation, but does anyone really believe that?
The US military is not to be used on its own civilians, but what's to stop them? Certainly much of the high ranking brass would be more than willing to follow orders to inflict harm on their own countrymen were the order to be given from on high.
We frequently taunt and tease leftist candy-arse, skirt-wearing, staple-faced twinks for thinking that they'd be able to impose their will on us good ole boys, but those aren't the ones that will be knocking down the door at three or four in the morning with flashbangs going off to add to the confusion. Not to mention, many of us who are quite proficient with our firearms and are successful hunters are woefully unprepared to face a trained unit or four man team. We're severely inadequately equipped for it at the civilian level as well insofar as weapons, rate of individual fire, surveillance gear, encrypted communications, etc...
Sadly, the victor of a US civil war will inherit a worthless, desolate country that has become the newest member of the third world.
