It still sounds like a prayer to satan. You can say he’s just trolling, but it’s still a Luciferian invocation.
It doesn’t matter if he worships the devil. He’s still praying to him for guidance.
I know legally it’s the same, but morally it’s not. When officials start seeing satan as the same as Jesus, then you’re not living in a moral society.

There are a lot more than 10 commandments though.
Well, yeah. I just chose to focus on the list that Wiki gave me from the KJV.
There are all kinds of wacky "thou shall nots".
A lot of them are very similar to Muslim prohibitions, although Christians don't like to hear that.

And yet, it's true. Which is rare for that poster.
I don't have time to get into it right now, nor do I claim to have a thorough understanding of what you're claiming, but at least on the surface you might want to invoke Occam's Razor and ask yourself whether it makes more sense that you had your own road to Damascus experience with God that gave you an understanding that is diametrically opposed to Paul's own experience, that (seemingly, at least) denies the church (which Jesus directly spoke about establishing) and denies what Jesus had to say about no one being good, everyone being evil and thus unable to adequately keep the commandments, especially when you consider that He went out of His way to communicate that a person guilty of being angry is just as guilty as a murderer, or whether you've been led astray instead.
God isn't the only one who can produce signs, wonders, and visions.
And you weren't even in any kind of intimate communion with God at the time. You had rejected Him. (So had Paul, but you don't accept Paul, so you can't use him as any evidence for likelihood).
I know which seems like the more likely explanation to me.
I did not have a physical vision. Nothing appeared to me in this creation. There was no light, people around me weren't blinded. None of that crap - which is false.
I had my consciousness pulled into another place. The kingdom of God is within, not out there.
Furthermore, I am NOT an authority, nor do I have any desire to be. There is only 1 true teacher and it's not me. At best I hope to help people find that. Because it requires understanding and I can NOT give someone direct understanding.
I am not your savior, I am not a prophet. I am some random dude on the internet. I don't want you to believe me, that would be dumb on your part AND it would be worthless. What I hope is that people look for understanding.
The church Jesus talks about is one that is built on understanding. Which is like a rock. Understanding is like math. Once you understand math, it is useful to you as a person, it allows you to apply it to your daily life. Memorizing 1+1=2 does not. You can memorize the true statement, but you won't be able to understand 1+2=3 is also true if you see it somewhere, and you'll never understand 2+2=5 is false.
Once you have that understanding, nobody will convince you 1+1=5. You will know for yourself. No man can touch it. You can not be lead astray into false equations.
And that is also the crux of my issue with Paul. He tells people the 1+1=2 saves them. To worship that, to say out loud that 1+1=2 is the truth, and says all kinds of great things about 1+1=2. But he lacks the actual understanding, and in the process robs people of it.
And that lack of understanding goes further into claims about not having to keep the commandments and so forth.
It is my commandment to hate evil. Are you saying there is no such thing as righteous anger?

You referred me to a book.
The reason I asked that question is the reason we have the 1st amendment to begin with. Who gets to decide what version and laws are valid.

Well that's one of the most insulting things anyone has ever said to me.
My bad. I should have been more sensitive.
But really, Paul thought he had been to the third heaven but didn’t know if he was in his body or out of his body. That may not be exactly like your experience but it is a psychotic episode if you perceived being in la la land in an altered reality talking to imaginary characters. Sometimes the truth hurts.

Now I can argue that this nation is indeed a Christian nation founded upon Judeo-Christian ethics because that's clearly in the writings, not only the official writings but the writings of the Founding Fathers who wrote the official documents.
Sure. No doubt - America was designed for a Christian people. But they didn’t make it a legally, exclusively, undeniably Christian nation. They left the door open. Intentionally. As they should have. True Christianity can’t be forced. It spreads through living it- not mandating it. We, as a nation of supposed “little Christs,” have failed to uphold our own values. I’m as guilty as anyone else. We all are.
If you don’t continue to do the things that made you great, you will cease to be great.

If you are simply saying I should question the experience, then I do every single day.
But the vision itself was only about 1% of it. It was over in less than a minute I would guess. I asked a question before it started. During it I was asked on a single question, and that was it.
It was the understanding that came with it, which was the answer to my question that changed everything. If it was just the vision itself, I'd be like - well that was weird.
And that's the answer I get every day. The understanding. Can't get around it, it's literally impossible for me to embrace the things Christians do.
People said the same things about Jesus. Look in John 10.
quote:
19 There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.
20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?
21 Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
And it's understandable. I wouldn't believe me and I don't expect you to either. I'm just some random guy on the internet. Notice I didn't say I got my understanding from some random guy on the internet. Because that would be dumb. It's just another form of acceptance rather than gaining understanding.
But if you have the same understanding - then you will hear me.

I'd love to create a blank profile based on beliefs and writings of a bunch of our Founding Fathers to see if they pass the modern Evangelical test of Christianity

They probably couldn’t “pass” it then- which is why we have no state religion.

Yes. The book contains the answer, you twit. And you just admitted that your question was dishonest, BTW.
As to the topic at hand, if you read up on the backstory, the satanist was there to prove a point, not to offer a bonafide prayer to a legitimate deity.
That’s the thing about the atheists, the satanists, the Wiccans, and all these other stupid fake movements masquerading as religions. They don’t give two shits about freedom of/from religion. They only want confrontation with Christians, and sometimes the opportunity to file a “pay me to go away” lawsuit. They’re cut from the same mold as Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church.

Do you care about the 1st amendment? Because I was under the impression you wanted to make it about Christianity.
I wasn't being dishonest. I was making the point that the problem with calling something a religion is that people have different versions and morals about them. Anyone can just claim to be a christian and then do whatever unless you start to making requirements.

Yes. I absolutely care. And we need common sense application. Denying a looney toons religion the opportunity to offer a prayer at a city council meeting does not violate 1A. It neither establishes a religion, nor does it prevent the free exercise thereof. All it does is keep mentally ill people from wasting the council’s time.

Ok, but then you have to block all prayer, and isn't that kind of against the 1st amendment.
The obvious solution is to vote them out.

It still sounds like a prayer to satan.
Let’s see…
quote:
"Let us pray.
Dear Dark Father, let us stand now, unbowed. Let us embrace the Luciferian impulse to eat of the tree of knowledge and dissipate our blissful and comforting delusions of old.
Let us reason our solutions with agnosticism in all things, holding fast only to that which is demonstrably true.
It is done. Hail Satan."
What I heard, as a like-minded person, is…
Don’t bow down to worship imaginary deities.
Use real knowledge.
Get rid of the comforting psychotic delusions of religion.
Use reason.
Don’t approach anything like there is no more knowledge to be gained.
Acknowledge the reality of only things that can be scientifically tested based on the preponderance of evidence.
And of course part of that was a troll on religious people like you who are oblivious.
quote:
It doesn’t matter if he worships the devil. He’s still praying to him for guidance.
Does he?
quote:
Mr. Dalbey told KTVO he is a member of the Satanic Temple, which he said is widely misunderstood. He said he did not give the invocation to make a point or to put a curse on the city, and that members do not worship Satan.
Satanic Temple FAQ
quote:
DO YOU WORSHIP SATAN? No, nor do we believe in the existence of Satan or the supernatural. The Satanic Temple believes that religion can, and should, be divorced from superstition. As such, we do not promote a belief in a personal Satan. To embrace the name Satan is to embrace rational inquiry removed from supernaturalism and archaic tradition-based superstitions. Satanists should actively work to hone critical thinking and exercise reasonable agnosticism in all things. Our beliefs must be malleable to the best current scientific understandings of the material world — never the reverse.
Maybe we can put this to bed now? Or perhaps 15 more pages of idiots thinking they really worship “the devil”.

1A says nothing about prayer at a city council meeting. And any legislative body can select who leads prayers at their functions, or if there’s a prayer at all. Think about it. You don’t see Satanists leading prayers in Congress. Why? Because they can extort Congress with lawsuits like they can with some little town in Iowa. Again, it’s not about religion, it’s about using the courts to greenmail.

I don't care what prayer anyone wants to say honestly. Satanic or not.
As I mentioned the solution is to vote them out. Do they represent you? And yet you are worried about it.

I’m not a hundred percent positive how it works wherever that fella’s from, but in most places you can’t vote an elected official out of office on your own, no matter how disgusted or frustrated you may be at the individual. Alls I’m saying is that it’s likely a bit more complicated than that, and it may even become necessary to consider other factors beyond your own thinking, exclusively.

Then the majority of people want that crap and you should consider moving.
Or just get over it because in order to have freedom, you have to give freedom. Especially when you hate it.
