You do realize that the argument you two are having is entirely pointless, right?

You're stating that they wanting to break away because they were not Christian, using some of the founders as your evidence, I'm stating the main reason was because they were Christian and still wanted religion to be a guiding light for the new territory.

They did not want a Christian nation, they wanted a nation where they could freely worship as they saw fit.

They were products of the enlightenment age of the 18th century.

Jesus does not give any guidance on government, other than to reject it.

Jefferson and a few others weren't Christians, they were deists. All products of the enlightenment era.

I'm stating they did want a Christian nation but did not want the government to have the power to force them under 1 church ie.. Church of England

He never said they were not Christian

They did not want a Christian Nation because they were scared of other Christians.

That doesn't mean that they were not Christian themselves. There is not one type of Christian or one type of Christianity

And I disagree. They did want a Christian nation but did not want another " King" demanding they all worship under the Church he demands.

So your version. And that's the problem.

Nope. There’s many versions of Christianity in the mix.

Regardless, we know that the USA was founded on Christian principles because of our culture of benevolence. Just look at the misanthropy and other dark personality traits that are prevalent in moslem, atheist, and other non Christian countries.

But they specifically state otherwise.

In the Treaty of Tripoli in 1797, less than 10 years after the constitution is ratified, the senate stated directly and bluntly, unanimously:

"the government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion"

It doesn't get any more plain as that. It's an official document of the US government in it's earliest years. Not to mention the private writings of the founding fathers.

That doesn't mean they were against Christianity or anything of the sort. It just means they did not want the government and religion combined. They wanted the freedom to worship as they saw fit - which was mostly Christian, but very different versions and some not even Christian at all.

And it's really about even more than just religion when you get down to it. It's about all belief, from believing the earth is round or flat, to the earth revolves around the sun and so forth. It's a freedom to use reason, science and other such things the church didn't like the results of.

And yet " In God we trust" is all over America including it's money.

I just don't agree with you. The puritans that came over to start the new world absolutely went by Christian values. My opinion doesn't mean I'm right nor you're wrong. It's my opinion based on the actions our ancestors in America took.

All this crap needs to be used by every Republican across the country because Democrats do not act independently. They vote as a party and no matter how crazy the policy is, if the party wants it they will all vote and support it. Nothing any of them do is confined to their local area.

His argument is legalistic, saying, " Well, this is what they said" when they passed a resolution
They said what they said to alleviate fears that thet would establish, because there were calls to do so
But it's what was in their hearts a faith in Christ, a belief in Christianity, and that it was not only good for the nation but good for the world, and America has tried as best as it can, and it has often failed

but as best as they can it is trying to live up to those standards

from sea to shining sea

So the one that says gay people are fine is ok with you?

What if I declare "Christ is King", but I also believe you should allow trannies to teach sex ed to 5 year olds?

What about the versions that promote communism/socialism and try to claim Jesus supported it because he said feed the poor? Are those ok?

What if someone thinks Paul is a false prophet, but follow Jesus an try to keep the commandments? Is that ok? That was the original version until they were killed off for it.

So again, which version of Christianity is ok? What are the core beliefs that are required.

Again, the Founding Fathers rejected one denomination of Christianity

quit trying to argue a particular denomination as your example for why we're not a Christian nation,

you're a fricking dumb arse; stop embarassing yourself

The Bible foretold of other religions and preachers coming in his name with false testimony. Just because they say they are Christian doesn't mean we have to accept that as fact.

In God we Trust was put on coins in 1864 as civil war propaganda to boost northern moral over the south to invoke a religious rivalry with the confederacy.

The preachers in the north were worried the confederacy was claiming religious high ground.

It was added to paper money in the 1950s for basically the same reason, except this time in opposite to the Soviet Union and the godless communists.

Personally, I think it's an insult to God.
