I am still unclear why everyone is upset with him.

It's a complex issue. The women who traded sex for access are one thing, but he also forced himself on others, including tricking people to watch him jerk off. He's a sick man.

Some of the girls were there willingly and knew it was a ticket to stardom. They knew they had to have sex with him to get roles and were willing to suffer through it as a cost of doing business. The casting couch isn’t an urban legend and he was not the only one doing it, but he was one of the big wigs in town. He preyed on them to that extent. But i also think he raped some of them who were maybe naive as to why they were there or had a change of heart/mind in the moment. Scumbag who deserves to rot in prison.

I don't think it's any different than a woman seeking to rise up through the ranks at a corporation, but the path to that goal running right through a horny, perverted executive who says sex is the only way.
Could the women simply choose not to seek upward movement, sure I guess so, but I don't think that's the proper way of looking at it. I believe that whole scenario is highly frowned upon.
