Yet more Americans have died on U.S. soil in Ted Kennedy's car than from COVID-19...

If til this thing gets loose in some place like Venezuela, Somalia, etc. where there are large populations with already compromised immune systems, that mortality rate is going to shoot up and people around the world will be shitting themselves.

We would know that if we were testing...

...but the overwhelming majority of emergency departments do not have the ability to test for it.

It's just under 2 months old and has already made it to the US. It's a bit early to be celebrating that no one has died here from it.

I might be crazy but the places where the Coronvirus is making its mark appear to be primarily based in areas where you have large Chinese/Japanese population centers.

Nassau County New York now has over 150,000 Chinese/Japanese/South Korean residents.

Milan, Italy has the largest Asian population in Italy at over 20,000.

Brazil has over 2,000,000 Asian residents.

Eighty-three Nassau County residents have been asked to undergo a two-week voluntary quarantine from the date that they traveled to China

No one has been diagnosed with the virus, but tests for one resident are pending, officials said.

It appears that to this point, every single person who has it in this country got it directly from China. Temporary travel ban to the Far East is sounding better every day

And you zombie-movie worshipers make me laugh...

Perhaps you weren't around when we were told SARS, MERS, swine flu, Asian flu, bird flu, Spanish flu and Hong Kong flu were going to kill us all, just like we're being told now about COVID-19. And everytime a new one of those flus were identified we were told, "This time it's different. We really, really mean it this time."

No one is saying it's going to kill us all. We are worried about the economic impact due to fear and the potentially high R0 of this shite.

Exactly. The fear is worse than the disease.

And who is spreading the fear?

People like the poster who started this thread is one example.

If someone like me doesn't shiver with fright then I'm a "denier." That's bullshite.

Fear sells.
