The Ridgecrest/Kern County area is a big Republican area. Just FYI.

Bunch of one story sheds and tumble weeds. Those tremors need to move west.

I've got family that live in Lake Isabella about 45 minutes - 1 hr West of Ridgecrest up in the mountains in Kern county. My uncle and most of the guys I know in the area retired from China Lake. They definitely do some strange R&D out there, but an earthquake?

Global warming expands earths crust.

But wouldn’t that increase earths surface area? That means the oceans have to cover more ground. Sea level goes down.

This is my science.

I learned to operate a submarine nuclear propulsion plant in the deserts of Idaho.

If the OP moved to California and the few conservatives left there moved east and after that the big one finally hit and the whole state sank into the ocean I think I would be pretty much okay with that.

Is that wrong? I'm pretty much drunk right now but I'm pretty sure I am being sincere.

Once a family member moves out of the LA area I won't mind if the region is devastated.

Too many illegal immigrants. To quote one of the brighter democrat congressmen, the state is going to capsize due to an increased population.

Goddamn Irish’ fault. They snuck God some whiskey and threw his aim off. He was aiming for the epicenter to be city hall of Los Angeles.

What I find interesting. The length of the fault is usually an indicator of the potential size of an earthquake it is capable of producing.

Meaning - the longer/bigger the fault, the larger the earthquake it is capable of producing.

The known faults in this area are tiny compared to the ones running through LA. I don’t think a 7.1 should be possible according to current theory.

If these faults can produce a 7.1, what can the massive ones do that run through LA?

9's. And you have to remember that the scale is logarithmic, meaning that an 8 is 10 times more powerful that a 7.

There’s no oil and gas production out there. There’s mining operations, but no oil wells. Go west into Bakersfield and there’s oil everywhere including frac jobs.

I hope I get to see it in my lifetime! Like today/tomorrow type soon even. Science and stuff, it's interesting. Liquefaction of L.A. would be a sight to behold.
