A 70-year-old man was charged with attempted murder after he tried to drown a 21-year-old man on crutches at a residents-only lake in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, over a dispute about access to the lake.

According to a Hopkinton police report, Dana shouted at a group of young men that it was "time to go," referring to the group riding a jet ski on the lake

The group and Dana shout back and forth, with Dana eventually walking up to the group to confront them, according to officials

"Are you going to beat up a cripple?" one of Duffy's friends reportedly asked Dana.

"I don't care, I'll take a cripple." Dana responded, according to the report.

Speaking with NewsCenter 5, the victim, Matthew Duffy, said he feared for his life.

"I was so scared for my life because I can't fight back, I broke practically everything and this guy's on top of me under the water, I can't see what's going on, I can't fight back," Duffy said

Steven Dana was charged with an attempt to murder, two counts of strangulation/suffocation, and assault and battery on a disabled person.

I understand why the old man was upset, but you pick the guy with crutches to attack. The crippled kid is going to end up owning the old man's house. He should have called the cops. I know the teens probably got mouthy with him, but it's not an excuse to lose your composure. What a btch.

Now if the kid getting held underwater would have stabbed the man in the heart, that would have been self defense. Maybe some of the usual suspects crying about the CA trial should see this and try to understand what Self defense is.

Feared for his life. Those crutches are heavy, dangerous and under the right conditions could be used as a jousting weapon!

Has an older person going out of their way to confront a bunch of teens about something ever ended well ever?

It doesn't matter if you are 100% right and they are 100% wrong. There's nothing positive that can happen going and confronting a bunch of kids

Yet despite that these sorta situations are irresistible to boomer Karen though.

In what generation do you claim as your own?

Try to be honest, if possible.

I'll wait.

Sometimes you just have to walk away.

70 and white is no way to start a prison sentence.

Seems pretty dumb on both sides. The boomer should have had the age and wisdom to know better than assaulting a high schooler on crutches, but, he’s a boomer.

I am trying to figure out how that guy has two broken arms and a broken leg. I see the crutches, but he isn't using them, and he is standing on both legs. Arms don't appear to be restricted in any way.

Then his friends are standing around casually while the old guy attempts to drown him just a few feet away.

Strange.
