It can't be overstated how important McCormick's win was. For this and that it makes the math for Dems to retake the senate in 2026 almost impossible even with a 2018 level wave.

Murk may not survive another reelection. They're nuking ranked choice in Alaska.

If she starts voting strictly R, you will know she is worried about the next election.
She had everything locked down with the ranked voting, not so much anymore.

It would not have taken all that many votes to have been 57.

also think it's about time WVa's Joe Manchin leaves the Dems and declares for the GOP

It has not been repealed yet, the vote is close.

When does Murkowski come up for election? Trump and the Trump controlled RNC need to make it a priority to primary her. I know Alaska has that weird ranked choice system.

Collins is not the same as Murkowski. Collins serves her purpose of keeping a commie out of that Maine seat, and she usually only vote against the Republicans when her vote doesn't matter so that she can appear "moderate" to her constituents. When push came to shove she stood firm in the Cavanaugh hearing, and votes with us when she absolutely has to.
Murkowski on the other hand is the very definition of RINO. She even backed the dem in the Alaska House race, and the GOP challenger is pretty dang moderate.
We just got to hope that the GOPe wing of the Senate doesn't screw around. The guy taking Mitten's seat is only slightly better than him, so we'll have to see how he votes in the Senate.

Yep. It actually gives Susan Collins the room she needs if she feels she needs to vote against her party. A lot of people complain about Collins, but I think she is the best you can hope for in Maine, and she is up for re-election in ‘26.

She’s already lost a Republican primary and still got in via the general election thanks to the ranked choice system

Didn't she actually win running as an independent her last time? I remember something being screwy about the way she won.

Thanks for this informative rundown of the situation, Bamatab.

The good times just keep rolling in!
We outlawed it here in MO this year!

In a way, I really agree. I'd like to see that happen.
But, at the same time, having him as a monkey wrench in the dem machine, is also very delicious as well.
Edit- Wait a sec... Manchin didn't run again??

Yea, that should end her career.
She'll remarkably have a swing to the right to save herself. She "reinvented" herself briefly after being primaried, she will do it again.
Not that it will be meaningful, just enough to show off to voters.
