Did you read his buddies twitter posts? He lays it all out there. Bergdahl left to join the Taliban.

You don't automatically go from E-4 to E-5
He was promoted to E-4 during his captivity on June 12, 2010.
He was promoted to E-5 exactly one year (to the day) later.
It was done due to his prisoner status. Obviously, I did not mean that every E-4 gets automatically promoted to E-5 after a year, and know that from personal experience.

It would be awesome if the DoD went super high-tech and implanted biologically engineered devices that will track their every move.
