Yes. There was a thread on it
Their argument was being undocumented is only a misdemeanor, and therefore, not grounds for deportation due to "criminal behavior"
I posted links where both DIMs and Repubs argued against making it a felony for different reasons
DIMs - because they wanted to hang on to it not being a deporatable act
Repubs - because they didnt want to be forced to provide them with an attorney
