Still cheap...but nothing like 20 years ago.

No one has ever said that outside of the people too dumb to learn from the failed policies of Prohibition. It'll work this time. Trust us!

legal cannabis farm or illegal grow?
It's here in Oklahoma and the Chinese were running it.
Illegal. Guaranteed.
Land owners and rednecks around here are getting fed up too, because local law enforcement and county sheriff's offices won't touch these illegal grow operations. There's one about 13 miles from my doorstep that has half the county infuriated. People see three black Escalades pull in there followed by a box truck once a month, and call the law, and the law says "we are aware of this, and monitoring it".
Yeah, they're aware and monitoring it and it's been three years now and- NOTHING. These people aren't permitted. They're probably not even Visa holders. But they're buying off the law and buying up more and more land every month.
I'm not surprised if vigilantes are taking action because of it. I'd be even less surprised to find out it's the few honest cops around here banding together to take care of it themselves and circumvent the injustice system.

Are we about to compare the people killed or affected by violence in a free market versus an illegal market? Let’s run the numbers on that. I’m sure they’ll come back in your favor despite this anecdotal event.

Sounds like these Chinese scum stepped on some cartel toes.

Plenty more Chinese nationals to replace them with.

Did you read what you wrote?

Probably just the Chinese police force in America taking care of some of their citizens breaking Chinese law

Oh for sure.
The industry was designed to fail from the beginning. They issued too many licenses from the outset. The whole market became saturated w high grade weed. We’re two years in and the prices have bottomed out. All the small grows have lost their asses, packed up and are done.
The Chinese will be last ones standing and they won’t leave until they are starved out or arrested.
Any decent sized grow still operating in the state is either totally selling out of state or partially selling to the out of state black market. They simply can’t turn a profit any other way.

They're starting to pass legislation now to get the Oklahoma MJ industry in check, but the damage has been done.
I don't know how you voted on S.Q. 788 a few years ago and it's none of my business, but I voted against it because I actually read the entire thing and Stevie Wonder could've easily seen all the loopholes in the nomenclature and the problems that would most certainly arise because of it.
It was more of that "just pass it, and we'll figure it all out later" bullshite that so often plagues both sides of the aisle. On top of that, the MJ advocacy groups did a fantastic job of putting a narrative together that avoided looking into the depth of the question, and also turning out the young vote and the vote of many people who otherwise never even sniff a voting booth. I personally know a LOT of people who turned out for that election, just for SQ788, and haven't been back to vote ever since.
The newest licensing laws are going to weed out a lot of illegal grows and people who aren't fully committed to their operation as well. My daughter and her fiance recently opened their own private growery where they invested $300,000 in a building and equipment and start up costs alone, but they just produced their first yield and are doing great with it after passing state inspections (now VERY meticulous and thorough) with flying colors.
