I can't verify that number, but I can come close.
I'm over 60 was paying 911.00/month.
The Mrs. same age was paying 896.00/m0.
Mine jumped at the end of last year; however, I didn't renew because I qualified for Medicare.
The Mrs./ jumped up too, to $1,326.00/month. I can't remember what mine would have been, but you know it would have been more than my wife's..
So if she is 1,326/ month and mine was say 1,340/mo. then ours would have been right at $32,000.00 per year. We had a 10K+ a year increase coming
And prior to Obamacare I was in a group plan paying less than 12K a year.
I went from under 12K to just under 22K to almost 31K before I got on Medicare for myself.
Thxs Obama

There is simply no plan that's gonna cover everybody and yet be affordable for everybody.
That is true. But it also includes "single payer".
I believe this to be true, so I think the "single payer" system that we go to should be restricted to only cover the medically necessary treatments and should be minimal. Private supplemental insurance should cover everything above and beyond the minimal care needed.
In other words, a two tier system - the government plan, which would cover everyone (including those on Medicaid and Medicare) and supplemental plans to allow people to have their own doctor, to include non-generic drugs, to allow you quicker access to non-urgent services like MRI's, etc...

It might be Dr. Butler. He is my dog's Vet and I remember reading this article in The Advocate some time ago. BR Advocate
quote:
Dr. David Butler, a Baton Rouge veterinarian, said if he and his wife keep the same Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana plan they had in 2016, the premiums will jump 50 percent to $2,400 per month.
quote:
And the extra kick in the wallet: Instead of separate $4,500 deductibles, the Butlers will have a single $9,000 deductible to meet before their insurance kicks in, with the exception of some wellness visits. Basically, Butler and his wife potentially would have to spend close to $38,000 for the year in premiums and the deductible.

He's a doctor. He probably meant "$3,900."
Didnt have an RN there to tell him what to do.

With that kind of premium/deductible, why not just go uninsured? Anything short of a slow terminal illness will be cheaper, even with the penalty.

I know of a family of 4 who have an $1800 Indv deductible and $3600 Family Deductible. Their premium went up to $3400 a month on January 1st. SO I don't doubt that premium one bit.
I saw the renewal myself and was in shock at the premium.

Cassidy(R) Louisiana testifying about a couple in La with no kids has a 39,000$ healthcare premium, and 6,000$ deductible...No kids, and no health issues, said he listed it on his website...Damn! Is this right? Sounds crazy. Ages of couple around 61, he said..Anyone else in La experience premiums like this?
Possible.
I checked Health Sherpa and assumed they were tobacco users in the 70808 ZIP code. Found this plan:
Blue Max copay 70/50 $2800 - PPO
Choose
MONTHLY PREMIUM
$3,606
DEDUCTIBLE
$2,800
per person
That's in line with what he said.

Yes, but if we tweak it by adding more subsidies, we can probably bring that premium down under $3K/mth...

If you're dumb enough to get hit by a train, you don't deserve to be saved. You don't wear a seat belt and get in an accident? Don't bring them back. Let them suffer and die. Then broadcast their stupidity on the evening news.
You have no concept of Public Relations if you think this will happen and not be met by a furious anti-reaction. Are you just trolling? Because what you are writing, if it were to take place, is absurdly silly.

Looking for more links to prove healthcare premiums are declining, and regular folk aren't getting screwed royally.
He comes here with studies that mix apples and oranges.
People have their premiums offset by large govt. tax credits are doing OK, but for the people who already had insurance their employer is either paying more or they are paying a larger share. For those having their own coverage, it all went up.
We see evidence of that every day.
