A guy I know who is a building materials salesman was "advised" by the his companies HR department to remove the "Don't Tread On Me" sticker from the rear window of his truck. He owns the vehicle but is paid a car allowance as part of his compensation. He talked to his General Manager about it and the GM told him that the company fears that if a customer sees the sticker on his truck, some customers could be offended by it.

No one at that company will be advised to remove a Black Lives Matter bumper sticker from their car.

To me that is the problem, the company is trying to regulate a ideology i.e. which could be a religion. Would they tell him he can't have a Jesus fish as well?
What's the difference?

Those weren’t business decisions. You can continue pretending they were.
Corporate HR makes business decisions.

Awesome. That has nothing to do with what I was saying. If a non-controversial phrase became verboten and it bothered you, you would feel differently. You don’t have to admit it. We both know it’s true. Maybe like “Jews should be allowed to live.” If that phrase could get you fired, you would have a very different reaction to it. That should inform your brain of something. But your circuitry is off.
If I worked For a very pro Palestinian company, and every time someone posted something about any wrong doing the Israeli government has done I just Said “Jews have a right to live” I might Get fired.
So I don’t work for pro- Palestinian companies.

I’m actually just illuminating the lack of critical thinking that informs your positions.
I put a lot of thought into all my positions.

That’s already happened. EPM fired the step mother of the officer involved in the Atlanta shooting due to her presence “creating a hostile work environment.”

Sometimes. Sometimes they make stupid decisions that get them sued. You may have heard of cases like that.

You’re getting warmer.

I mean what if we’re talking about a small
Business,
So what if it's a small business. You talk to your people and find out what's going on with them instead of just firing them right away. Especially in a small business where employees are like family. You don't just write off family for one incident, you talk to them and figure out what the deal is.

So what if the guy keeps saying “oh yeah hitler was right?”
Well, if you talk to this person and he keeps saying those things then you let him go. Most likely this person wouldn't be working for a Jewish shop owner anyway so you would most likely never come across this made-up situation.

There are of course exceptions, but you’re free to walk down the street in a Klans robe without government prosecution.
You sure do like extreme examples. To compare someone saying all lives matter to the kkk is very strange.

The whole “all lives can’t matter until black lives matters” absolutely disgusts me.
All lives should matter at all times. This should never even be controversial. ESPECIALLY AT A TIME LIKE NOW WHERE WE HAVE THIS COVID BS. Life is too precious.

This is just obtuse. Of course you have a dress code and the employee is on the premises of the employer at that point and should be subject to employer rules of dress and conduct. I think you know that already. Eye roll.

If you want to apply the First Amendment to the private sector its absolutely not. Nazi uniforms are protected from the government.
And an SS uniform has a tie, a collar, a button down shirt. It’s mostly a black suit.
The issue any dress code would have with it is that it’s extremely offensive. Which the first amendment protects.

those pussies would never make it in O&G. we had road boring companies on pipelines like many who hand out hard hat stickers for workers. they had a USA and CSA flag on the sticker with boring equipment/drill. They are out of tennessee. nobody batted an eyelash or melted like a cuck.

Business owners whether they agree with an employee or not have to protect their business when an employee speaks out on something controversial as the mob doesn't attack just the individual but they blast negative online reviews and publicity on the business as well.
That depends on the context of the speech. If we're talking about publicly posting it on social media, sure. If we're talking about one employee saying something to another around the water cooler with no customers or potential customers around, that's a different story.

I love how liberals have become corporate supporters and have adopted authoritarianism. Trump is amazing at how he has turned you guys around.
Historically, if a liberal was fired for speaking their minds there was outrage and lawsuits by the progressive community. Now, when someone is fired for speaking their mind (not liberal) it's celebrated.

In a bubble “All Lives Matter” Is absolutely not objectionable. It’s very agreeable.
Of course context matters.
Remember it’s “Black Lives Matter” not “Only Black Alives Matter” so if you really value all lives you should have an issue with the first statement.
If you’re just saying All Lives Matter to disagree with someone saying “Black Lives Matter” than you’re just disagreeing with someone saying BLM and the whole ALM feels pretty disingenuous.
When the kids are complaining that there tired and I scream back “everyone is tired” it’s usually not because I am Feeling too tired for them.
