Why do you even participate in these threads?

Youre literally tailing everyone, posting the most simple things that everyone but you thinks is old info.

Do you really think we dont know Trump could have hired his own security for the past few years?

Did you think this was some "gotcha" that was going to upset the cart?

I wouldn’t be surprised to see many rally attendees in (relatively) rural/suburban area armed, ready, and on the lookout going forward.

They aren’t getting inside the rallies with guns or weapons. Unless you’re saying they’ll be outside

And it was two minutes + from the time he is seen crawling on the roof with a gun until he opens fire.

This may be the biggest frick up. Trump should have been in the truck and driving away by the time this guy fired shots.

There’s no “may” to it. It is obviously the biggest frick up.

I have this feeling we're going to find out that there wasn't universal communication avenues and the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing fast enough.

At least in the last 40 years, possibly 60. The SS fricked up bigly in Dallas when JFK died. You can argue they were less well-trained, though.

They didn’t wait multiple minutes after a shooter was discovered to move him. Though failing to clear that building was a massive failure—albeit that is with hindsight, considering it was the first attempt of that type on a POTUS.

I left room to consider that the guy having access to that roof at all may be a bigger one.

Either way, this will cause some serious head rolling and soul searching at USSS.

Another outstanding idea that no one else has ever considered. Amazing.

During Oct of 02 GWB visited AU and made a speech on the baseball field. We were forced to leave the fraternity row by SS as Marine 1 and other helos used the intramural fields to land. They even swept the houses . Clear lines of fire downhill if you’ve ever been there. Snipers were stationed in the decks at JHS. These people now aren’t doing their jobs correctly.

That’s likely going to be a chain in the fence.

Two minutes is more than enough time to overcome that issue.

Local police to supervisor: Guy on the roof with a gun.

Supervisor to SS Liaison: Report of guy on the roof with a gun.

SS Liaison to SS officers on Stage: Report of guy on the roof with a gun.

1 minute 45 seconds left.

For years we’ve been hearing and seeing evidence that local police forces are “militarizing”. We see armored vehicles, state of the art equipment/weapons, hordes of guys in multicam, etc.

And now we need them to stop a 20 year old from killing Trump and they are useless.

For what its worth, Don Bonigino basically said this was standard practice.

Easily. Thats a long arse time.

Unless we are living in the 1700s with no modern communications.

It should be, but we're dealing with local LEO.

But SS approves plans relying on that weak link all the time, so it's clear that's a failing strategy.

I'm curious if future operations will decrease reliance on local LEO, which will have ripple effects (like possibly fewer events being approved in open spaces like this)

We don’t know who had direct responsibility for that rooftop. Ultimately the SS detail lead owns it, just like a military commander owns what subordinates do. This should be a firing offense up to and including the director.

Correct. That was posted 2 days ago, within the context of “who was doing what”, not who’s ultimately responsible. That’s a no shitter. USSS owns the whole op.

My point was that assuming “a full contingent” meant anything specific and that every CS team was a highly trained USSS element was iffy because they were certainly augmented by local/state LE…who aren’t that well trained.

And that nobody new (at the time I posted it) who (USSS CS, some local yahoo, etc.) had responsibility for that rooftop.

You have to remember just who exactly is militarizing

I’ve been wondering how this will impact Trump’s campaign schedule. He’ll do them inside if he has to—there are plenty of venues. But it would suck for him to not have the larger outdoor rallies.

Ah, I see the angle now.

Anti local PD.

You cant admit that the secret service was in charge and most likely at fault.

yeah for sure. Dallas had building after building that had to be cleared along with a moving target they had to cover.

This place had a couple rooftops and immobile target. Pretty freaking simple.
