The Department of Defense says about one-third of troops offered the COVID vaccine have refused it. That's according to a Stars and Stripes report.

Pentagon officials declined to provide the information about the number of troops vaccinated until Representative Mike Rogers (R-AL) recently requested it, according to the report.

The Pentagon's homeland defense chief, Robert Salesses, says that about 147,000 troops have been fully vaccinated, while another 212,000 have received the first of their two doses.

The Pentagon cannot mandate the vaccine since it has only been authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on an emergency basis, says Stars and Stripes.

Pentagon officials say they want more service members and other members of the Defense Department community to accept the vaccinations, and they are continuing to educate the forces about the vaccines' safety and benefits.

20-40 year olds in pretty good to great shape. Without any pre-existing conditions, why in the world would they want the shot?

Can't believe that they were given a choice. I was never asked if I wanted a shot. I stood in a long line and got it.
Also means 66% took the shot. However at 20 years old, I would turn ti down also.

Might be a good thing since no one knows the long term effects. It could turn people into the Incredible Hulk or might cause cancer or some other unknown illness.

Can't blame the government for wanting to go with "operation warp speed", but due to the vaccine not undergoing the usual extensive and thorough clinical trails that a typical vaccine goes through, it is reason to give one pause about rushing out to get the shot. Usually the general population doesn't serve as the "guinea pigs" for a vaccine. Also, now that Biden has won the election and is in office, it serves no political purpose for trumpsters to rush out and get the shot and more in their political interests (at least as they see it) to knock "the deep state" and "fake news" for pushing the vaccine on the general population. If the vaccines would have come out a little earlier, before the election, these same people would be touting the "miracle" vaccine and the greatness of Trumpfs "operation warp speed" for pushing it through with little testing, as in fact they were doing just that.

My kids walked away without a thought. One of mine is in the medical side and almost none of them on base have taken it.

The Emperor will have to resort to “Take a shot or get shot” to attain full compliance.

Right in the post above:

They're given the choice because it is an "experimental drug".
