“We are not convinced it had actually been struck by a vehicle,” said Maria Davidson, large carnivore program manager with LDWF. “The cause of death is still under investigation, but it was absolutely a captive-held pet that we believe was probably placed there after it died.”

There are no personal captive cougar permits currently issued in the state because of safety concerns, so it is unlawful to possess a cougar in Louisiana except for certified zoos, the release states.

someone has to know who had a pet cougar. That's not something one can hide easily.

What if it was born without claws? probably explains it's untimely death.

This. The most logical explanation is always the most likely...

It was dumped in front of the elementary school. It was there a couple days before LDWF were notified. Any zoo's are big cat sanctuaries missing a Cougar?

Well we know it didn't claw it's way out of capitivity, only to be struck down on the mean streets of Calcasieu. It'll take LDWF two weeks to realize its a house cat named Mr. Whiskers.

The government lies.
They claim there are no wild panthers.
They said it was a captive to cover their asses.

Remember, LWDF also said there were ONLY 500 wild black bears in the state.
