I'd choose Gino's over it. DiGiulios also, unless you're looking for a quiet dinner.

Ruffinos was very underwhelming the last visit or two. Same said by my friend who went recently.

Houmas House makes for an incredible meal, we were there this weekend and the food was on point. There are 2 restaurants in the evening to choose from and the property is incredible...

This is what I came to suggest, and I haven't even been.

I'm finding myself growing tired of the same few "special occasion" spots in BR.

I'd go Gino's for an anniversary meal.

We had 2 couples with us that had never been and they were very surprised with everything about the night.

I recommend getting there at least and hour before your reservations. Go to the bar and get a drink and take a stroll around the grounds.

You might consider Nino's. If you call there, you can design the meal for you and your spouse. I think that's pretty neat.

Go to Roberto's on River Road in Iberville.

Latil's at Houmas House. Nice drive, incredible grounds, amazing food. The best special dinner location. Price point is not as expensive as you would think. I would guess it would probably be the same price range of Ruffino's.

I was coming to say Houmas House or Gino's.

Those are both romantic and the food is great at both.

Gino's or Houmas House. Downside to Houmas house is you need to limit your drinking being a little drive. I'm a fan of Gino's. other than that, get a room in nola and your options are unlimited.

I think Latil's Landing and Nino's are very good recommendations, the former having the better atmosphere and the latter the better food.

You might also want to check out Galatoire's Bistro, the last few times I have been there in the last few months the food has been very good and they have mitigated the excessive noise that drew lots of complaints on this board and elsewhere. I bet that if you let them know what you are celebrating they will pull out all the stops and ensure you a memorable meal.

That's all a big shame.

Masion lacour and Roberto's are overrated.
Went to ML for anniv 2-3 years ago... I wasn't impressed at all.
Been to Roberto's 3-4 times...idk I'm just not a big fan of this place.

Gino's, Ruth's, Jubans or ruffinos is what I'd suggest.

There just isn't an abundance.. IDK. Maybe I'm burnt out.

My go-to for special occasions these days is wine, candles, music, and cooking something special at home.
