The protesters or the federal agents now taking over for the police department there?

Obama is a statist authoritarian who believes he knows whats best for everyone

I think he sides with the feds and villifies the protesters

Only if invited by the state.

I'm pretty sure that this was a set of changes directly tied to Reconstruction, when the US military had South Carolina, Louisiana, and another state under occupation until at least 1877.

Agreed.

Mr. "I think the police acted stupidly" has a habit of commenting on stuff he knows nothing about and making knee-jerk reactions. His reflex will be to blame the cops.

I think he sides withe the protesters and against the local government. He then uses this to prove the federal government is better qualified to handle local issues.
